Sarver, PA (May 22, 2009) The Friedman’s Freshmarkets DIRTcar Late Models mashed on the gas first tonight with Lynn Geisler and Michael Norris making up the front row. Norris led the first lap but was passed by Gary Lyle on lap two. Lyle held off numerous charges from Doug Horton, but a caution on lap 16 brought the field back for a double file restart; giving Horton and hard charging Gregg Satterlee a chance. With a great restart, Horton took the lead away from Lyle; but the determined 1998 Track Champion passed Horton in turn four to capture his first victory of the year. The rest of the top five played out with Doug Horton in second, Alex Ferree in third, Gregg Satterlee in fourth and pole-sitter Lynn Geisler in fifth.

The Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Modifieds took the green flag from flagman Donnie Gallagher with Carl Murdick and Erik Martin on the front row. It only took five laps, starting from seventh, for Kevin Bolland to pass Phil Evans Jr. to take the lead. Although challenged several times by Brian Swartzlander, including a green/white/checkered finish, Bolland held on to capture his second victory of the year. The rest of the top five ended up with Brian Swartzlander in second, Dave Murdick in third, Jeremiah Shingledecker in fourth and Del Rougeux Jr. in fifth.

Mike Lutz would be the man to start the show tonight for the Commercial Truck & Trailer DIRTcar Sprints. Giving the feeling of overwhelming anticipation, the Sprints paced the track for what felt like forever. After an immediate caution in lap one, those engines starting purring and it was Bob Felmlee who took the lead. It seemed as if no one would catch him until he made contact with a lapped car off of turn two causing him the flip every which way until he finally landed right side up. In this sudden turn of events, it was Carl Bowser and Scott Priester who would start first and second. Immediately taking the high side, Bowser took off leaving nothing but a cloud of dust behind him. Even after a restart due to a caution in lap 14, and another in lap 21, Bowser was astoundingly fast and ultimately took home the win! Rod George who started twelfth, was on a quest to the front as he remarkably moved up ten spots to finish second. The rest of the top five included Scott Priester in third, Kevin Schaeffer in fourth, and Brent Matus in fifth.

The beloved Advanced Auto Parts DIRTcar Sportsman took the field for the final race of the night. With twenty-five cars starting the race, the smell of competition lingered in the air. Shawn Thorn started the race and initially took the lead with Bob Egley a close second. With a streak of bad luck for the past two weeks, one of last year’s top ten drivers, Jim Fosnaught, left the field on the first lap. When the field went back to green, it was not long until Joe Kelley made his presence known and found his way to the lead where it would become battle of track champions as he and Egley battled for first. Wayne Carbo stayed hot on their tail with last week’s winner Bob Lipinski following in fourth. Kelley seemed as if he would show everyone else how it is done, until déjà vu from the Sprints feature set in and the leader, Joe Kelley, lost the lead after brief contact with John Watson. In an attempt to save a few spots, Kelley jetted back onto the track causing contact with Jeff Walters. This left Egley and Lipinski to battle for first. What a show, even with Egley hot on pursuit, Lipinski took it home and has now won three consecutive features in the Sportsman division. The rest of the top five included Bob Egley in second, Wayne Carbo in third, Paul Schreckengost in fourth, and Shawn Thorn in fifth.
