Weedsport , NY - Sunday night’s program at Cayuga County Fair Speedway kicked off with Hawaii Five-O Night as fans were welcomed with leis from RUSH Racewear as they entered the gates. It was a busy night here in Weedsport as the Hall of Fame 50 lap feature witnessed defending Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series champion hold off Matt Sheppard and Brett Hearn during a heart stopping one lap shootout for the checkered.

Big Block Modifieds

It wasn’t long after the green flag dropped on the Hall of Fame 50 lap feature that teammate Billy Decker passed pole sitter Larry Wight for the lead as the Big Block Modifieds ricocheted around the 3/8 miler.

Mike Storms currently running in second tried to reel in the defending champion but as circuits began to fall , Decker had established a 1.2 second lead over the number two spot. Going into lap 12 , Decker would hit traffic as Brett Hearn would begin making his move to the top currently breaking into the top five after starting the night’s feature in eighth.

As the feature reached the halfway mark , Decker continued to hold a one second lead over Storms as Hearn , Gary Tomkins , and Matt Sheppard rounded out the top five. With the feature quickly coming to a close it appeared Decker would have it in the bag but a caution flag thrown with one to go after Ryan Phelps slowed into turn two , would send the boys back around for a good ol’ fashion shootout.

At the restart , Decker , Sheppard and Hearn would line up and as the green flag fell the three heavyweights took to the inside groove of turn four all chomping at the bit to get that perfect spot. As Decker cleared turn four , Sheppard bobbled coming out of turn four giving Brett Hearn the window to take the second place spot as the checkered flag flew. Top Five: Billy Decker , Brett Hearn , Gary Tomkins , Matt Sheppard , and Jimmy Phelps

Sportsman Modified

With one trip around the circuit , it was evident the 20x Xtreme Lubricants ride of Kevin Ridley was the car to beat as the 21 Sportsman Modifieds took to the stage for the Bud Light 25 lap feature.

As the #85 of John Pietrowicz and #16 of Earl Rudy try to inside groove in turns three and four , hopes of catching up with 20x seem to dwindle with every lap completed as Ridley establishes nearly a one second lead with just eight laps in the books.

A caution two laps later would send the boys back to the line but with Ridley choosing the favored outside lane it seemed no man would be able to slow down the Geneva , NY native as he gets another great bite off of turn four screaming down the front straightaway.

With five laps to go , Ridley would have no trouble taking home tonight’s checkered flag as both Pietrowicz and Dave Marcuccilli took solace in capturing a top three finish. Top Five: Kevin Ridley , John Pietrowicz , Dave Marcuccilli , Steve Gray , and Tom Juhl.

Street Stock

At the drop of the green , Nick Rizzo aboard the #115 found room to run around pole sitter Dan Hoffman Jr during the opening lap , snatching the lead away within the first second of the Street Stock feature.

As cars entered into its second circuit , Andy Fisk charged into action as he rocketed past both Chris Fisher and Hoffman to take the number two spot. With the fall of the next lap the tides would change once more amongst the leader board as Rizzo would have to surrender his lead spot to Fisk.

Despite Dave Mannise and Nate Peckham’s gravest attempts to track down the #33 of Fisk , the car proved to be too much for the pair ultimately sending Fisk to victory lane! Top Five: Andy Fisk , Nate Peckham , Dave Mannise , Wayne Ellison , and Mike Welch.

Midstate Vintage Mods

Its was a trip down memory for fans that attended Sunday night’s program as the Midstate Vintage Mods took to the stage for two 12-lap features.

Bill Kisselstein’s #37 beat out the 1941 coupe of Brad Litzenberger’s to take the checkered flag after the duo went head to head around the 3/8 miler during the night’s first vintage mod feature. Ray Demolin’s 1937 Sedan took home the Hobby division title after a solid third place finish during the feature.

Rob Casti had all the right moves during the night’s second feature taking home the checkered flag after sneaking around Jon Kuleszo’s 1940 Plymouth coupe with eight laps to go.

BattleKarz

The BattleKarz division reverted back to a 20 lap feature for Sunday’s racing program , much to the liking of Nick Werner who cleared both Bill Under and Matt Dawson just four laps into the feature , concluding his night in Victory Lane with Shane Andrews.
