Steven Petty, BATAVIA, NY, (May 23, 2009)- Brian Sage picked up his second win of the season in the Troyer Race Cars DIRT Sportsman feature. Sage took the lead away from James Henry on lap 14 to pick up his second win of the young season.
James Henry and Greg Mrzywka lead the field to the green flag with Henry leading early and pulling away quickly from the rest of the pack. Then after a caution on lap 13, Brian Sage passed the Henry machine on lap 14 and led the rest of the way in picking up the win. Henry kept the rest of the field at bay to finish second with Mike O’Brien finishing third, Tim Downs in fourth and Greg Mrzywka completing the top 5. Henry and Mrzywka won the heat events.
“The Outlaw” Dave Dubois picked up his first win of the season in the shortened Original Pizza Logs Late Model feature. The race was shortened due to the 20 minutes or 20-lap rule in-place at the speedway. Dave Dubois passed Justin Chaddock on lap 14 for the race-winning pass. Justin Chaddock and JJ Mazur led the field to the green with Chaddock getting the early lead. A caution-filled affair for the Late Models but Chaddock was able to maintain the lead until a caution on lap 14 that put him pitside therefore giving the lead to Dubois. Completing the top 5 was Rich Hale, Carl Shetler, Jason Bridge and Bob Babbitt.
The Jake’s Pub and Grille Street Stock feature was won by Matt Pfalzer. Pfalzer passed Josh Smallidge on lap 15 to capture his first win of the season. Smallidge and Dan Pries led the field at the start with Smallidge getting out to the early advantage. Pfalzer started 15th and worked his way up front and getting by Smallidge on lap 15 for the win with Smallidge hanging on for second with Bill Kowsky, Dan Pries and Jeb Wallworth completing the top 5.
Dan Norton picked up his second win of the season in the Mini Stock main event. Starting on the poll for the 15 lap event, Norton led from start to finish for the win. Completing the top 5 was Jimmy Maier, Bobby Dickinson, Duane Pingrey and Pat Powers.
Robbie Shuttleworth picked up his 3rd of the season in the Lauterborn Electric Sprint Car feature. Shuttleworth grabbed the lead on lap 3 and led the rest of way for the victory. Jeremy Barnard, Ken Swan and Mike Lauterborn rounded out the field.
