Duanesburg, NY - Consistency wins championships.
Saturday night at the legendary Fonda Speedway Luke Munroe was definitely consistent, bringing himself one step closer to his first Sportsman division track championship.
The night started with the ever important heat race. Munroe started seventh and wasted no time in making his move. By the time the eight lap race was complete, he was solidly in a handicapping spot – finishing third.
With that finish, Munroe would line up eighth on the starting grid. Mother Nature decided to open up with a rather hard rain storm just after qualifying was completed. The Sportsman division was the first race on track following the rain. This resulted in a very fast, tacky and exciting race track.
Luke slipped on the start, falling back to the 13th position. It didn’t take the Duanesburg driver long to make up the lost ground as he was back to ninth by lap five. Despite no cautions he had powered his way back to seventh by the half way point with his sights set on sixth place. He closed the gap however without a caution was not able to climb any higher, finishing in the seventh position.
Team 33 Munroe Racing sits atop of the Fonda Speedway Point Standings.
Sponsorship this season will come from Re-Nue Spa, Wheelers Accessible Vans, Industrial Support Services, Carmen Car Wash, Hillview Tavern and Auto Cosmetics.
Team 33 Munroe Racing will be back in action next Saturday night at the Track of Champions with double features on the card. |
