According to dougs dirt diary they are having a closed test session on it today.

According to dougs dirt diary they are having a closed test session on it today. It's because it has nothing to do with Fonda or Glen Ridge lol I didn't know they were doing this, being my home track I hope it works out well as the racing has been great so far this year on the conventional clay. Adam Ross
Word from the track is that the surface is faily hard on tires right now. More to come.
brian moore
the watertown times had it in last night that they put it down saturday and were going to test it tonight. According to the paper they only need one load of water to prepair the track. i wonder what a heavy rain during the week will do to it? Adam Ross
Word from the speedway is that a D400 Hoosier got hotter than it should have when it was put on the right rear, and a 48 American Racer tire got hot enough to blister on the surface. Mike Mallett is at the test.

I used to work for WGR and I told people at the start of last season that dont be surprised to see WGR fade away and Glenn show his face again cause his 5 year no compete clause is almost up. Glenn is going to come out of this looking like a brilliant man. sold Dirt for millions took a five year vacation and he is getting everything back for nothing. think about it, brewerton and fulton defected, canandaigua is run by a relative of his group of boys, wgr is all but gone, hell cory is the main contact on glenns new website. WGR may still try to hold super dirt week at syracuse down the road but if I was a betting man I would put all my money on Glenn and his track. sound like the new surface is permanent at brewerton and they are going to work it all year. everyone hated glenn when he ran it then wgr came in and basically destroyed what it was. this is actually exciting to see glenn back. just my opinion anyway
VintageFan50
Don't be suprised if Glenn takes the lease back on the mile and just hosts one big Modified show - like the early days of super dirt week.
ask0329
Provided it does not change the racing I think its awesome. I've seen some reports that said it was abrasive and blistered some tires. I would assume they will tweek the formula and work on it to get it right so tire wear doesnt become a factor. If they can get it right they may have revolutionized dirt racing. I know for a fact as I've been told, its the dust that keeps some fans from coming out. They dont want to go to a race, get home at 11-12 at night and have to shower, clean up, so on and so forth. Allot of people also consider it to be unhealthy breathing in dust all night which keeps them away. If in fact this works, Brewerton better be ready to purchase some more bleachers to add around turn three cause it may get real busy real quick. johnqpublic
It looks like a lot of particles are being kicked up by the cars. At that rate how long before the 2" of material gets blown off and we are back to real dirt?....and real dust?
scottnorwood
Just My Opinion here.. It was nice to hear Glenn's voice again. Hes a great businessman. You hear how quickly he linked the dust and female attendace at the shows? He sees the marketing and business issues and then looks for new technology to drive a solution. I think we should be excited about his attempts here and even if it fails; hes trying something new that is way out of the box. WRG....doesnt look to good right now for you

WRG....doesnt look to good right now for you I was just gonna post that about the women. I think we can be safe to say with the parties involved that this will ultimatly end in success. Glenn is a business man and he didnt spend the last five years sitting around planting flowers. He had a plan a long time ago b4 he sold dirt. after all from what i here he bought all that land around the time he sold dirt. it almost like he knew they would fail and it would all fall in his lap again and now this revolutionary surface if it all works will be his legacy in dirt racing. good times in northeast dirt are right at the door step again although, I think the days of the mile are almost over. The stuff is kind of pricey to do a full prep just for a test.
Greg Birosh
This reminds me of the time they put the cola syrup down at Weedsport, especially with the tire wear. Some of you on here will remember that didn't end well, though it was interesting to get a peek at what Cayuga County would be like if it were paved. Let's hope this experiment turns out much better. banana cognac
can someone explain what this synthetic clay is actually made out of? I keep hearing it being compared to baseball fields, but with that I think of rubber turf and sand. Thanks a bunch for the clarification

MikeMallett
They put about a 1-2 inch layer of wax/clay mix and packed it all together. It is the same type of thing they use on baseball warning tracks etc.
JumpinJack
I heard they were tearing up tires in as little as 6 laps. Any truth to that?
silverbullett22
to me, it sounds like the "synthetic" surface is going to make the track like an asphalt track. They only ran for an hour on it and it was heating tires to the point of blistering. I dont know how many laps were run in that hour, but according to the article on the front page of DTD, they prepped the track so it was like a "feature time track". Whats going to happen when they get a full field of cars on the track? If the tires are blistering in this amount of time, how much more are the teams going to have to spend on tires? The new surface might cut down on the dust, but if i remember correctly, it IS a DIRT TRACK!! if you cant handle the dirt, go to an asphalt track and leave it at that. I just hope to hell that they dont destroy the racing surface at Brewerton and in turn, ruin the great racing they have there every week! I'm all for the testing, but for my sanity sake, PLEASE dont make it like an asphalt track!!
rev600ho
I heard they were tearing up tires in as little as 6 laps. Any truth to that? The tires were getting so hot that they were flat spotting in the middle.....Jimmy wasnt impressed! Track was smooth and fast, but very slick...look for lap times to slow down a bit? engineman
I heard they were tearing up tires in as little as 6 laps. Any truth to that? From the lap times posted on the Brewerton website..Willie Decker ran 44 laps in the 3rd session (don't know if he changed tires at all during this run.) jayydirt
All this money on a new surface at a track that has no problem whatsoever with that! To me it seems like alot of money to get a few chicks to attend a dirt track...So what do they do when girls start complaining about the rubber smell?
