I wonder if there will even be an Octoberfest next year. Hagerstown cut out several races that were money losers from this year's schedule. I probably have not been to Octoberfest in 10 years, but I have seen it enough times to know it is usually a race to avoid. I never quite got the whole allure of the race, or even the point of adding 358 Mods to the card. IMO, the race was fine when it was just Modifieds, Late Models and Sprint Cars. The problem with having four $10.000 to win races is that the rest of the purse has to take a sharp, sharp drop from second to last.

Hagerstown wanting to cut the purse really surprises me. The crowd must have been awful. I know the Octoberfest is a gigantic purse, but I have been to some early season races at Hagerstown in the cold when I don't think there were 300 fans in the stands and they didn't cut the purse.

He owns the 25 ernie d's late model that josh Richards drives in regional shows

He throws a lot of money around in racing. He's also a significant backer of Clint Smith. Jason Covert and Bart Hartman have driven his 25 as well. He also sponsors a few support class cars at Winchester in Virginia. With Kid Rocket "moving on up" to NASCRAP, I imagine Bart Hartman will get a lot more seat time in the car.

While surfing that site, I see that Davenport is still winning!. $20,000 this past weekend Nov.13 at East Alabama Motor Speedway. McCeadie finished 5th in a car numbered 1G? Any info from anyone on this ride?

If my memory is correct, that 1G car is the same car that Don O'Neal drove during speedweeks to a victory, JJ Yeley raced it in the Prelude to the Dream and finished 3rd or 4th in it, and I think Will Vaught ran the car at the World Finals.

they said if they got 50 plus cars for each class they would pay but they didnt they only had 30s for sb n bb mods

that rule only applied to small block modifieds since 2009...running against the 410 sprint show an hour and half away saturday cut down the 2-day admission crowd significantly. they ended up 20,000 dollars short of the purse money. ernie davis front the 20000 so everyone got paid the full purse. but they elected to keep the laps short in hopes of improving the racing action.

Did you mean 2011 and not 2010?

Does anyone else think if they ran 2 nights that it would be better racing than Sundays race. The track does night like day racing from the 4 Oktoberfests that I attended

I know that if they had run the features on saturday, that I would have traveled down there to watch them.

no because 2010 was the last time the octoberfest 350 happened in its entirety.

I'm pretty sure we ran 100 laps last year with the 358 however I can't say if we got the full purse or not. I know that the less than 50 cars, less than a full purse rule was in effect last year. At least this year it would be even for all divisions as opposed to just the 358's since it isn't like the big blocks and late models are drawing over 50 cars each.

You absolutely ran 100 laps last year(2010) hence my above quote "2010 the end of an era"

The less than 50 cars purse rule was for small blocks only in 2010 and 2011. That rule had nothing to do with the "reduced purse and laps" this year. even with this rule the speedway was still short 20 thousand dollars as a direct result of losing the saturday sprint car crowd and teams.

therefore without being able to pay ANY of the advertised purses, they elected to reduce the laps and save costs to the teams. Ernie Davis then decided to cover the difference but the speedway kept the laps recuded to try to "improve" the racing action.
