racer17b
Just got an email from WRG that they pulled Can-Am's DIRT santioning for the year for opening up the sportsman tire rule for their special shows.

Sunny
Well, all I can say is tomorrow is 3/15 - the reported closing date on the sale of Black Rock. And IF it happened, and DIRTcar is in there, that's where all their specials will go.
ferg3298
What a joke dirt is, those open tire sportsmen races are at the end of the season after regular points are all finished. Its to bad for Canam, not having the dirt sanction will more then likely hurt their mod counts, as some guys would of run there for dirt points. Screw dirt, I am sticking with Brewerton, ROC, and any outlaw tracks, including now canam.

What did they expect to happen ??? Time to break away from WRG . They dont care about the Mods , Sportsman or any track that runs these classes . Cant everyone see that ??? Plus why cant Can-Am just drop the open tire rule for the couple of races and let them back into DIRT . JMO Joe Cook
mikel
I wonder too if changing nights to go against Brockville didn't help sway their decision? Also, don't the late models at Can-Am now run under Fastrak sanction instead of UMP/Dirtcar Pro Late Model santioning as in the past? (Strike two maybe?) (Brockville is 41 miles from Can-Am and at one time Dirt wouldn't permit two of their member tracks running the same night within a certain radius-anyone remember what it was?) Maybe if Black Rock's sale does go through, the prospective new owner has indicated he will go with Dirtcar sanctioning so perhaps the tour races will move there)
Chip Burdick
Go listen to Doug's DIRT Diary from Monday. Mike Sanchelli from Orange County says they have an open tire rule race this summer. Does Malta run all DIRT sanction classes? Does Middletown, Lebanon Valley, Ransomville, all run DIRT Sanctioned classes and or rules? The answer is NO they don't. The Sportsman open tire rule races were taken off the schedule until after Labor Day when the DIRT points are over. We will survive. I know one thing there are alot of pissed off racers at DIRT. I dont get it and Maybe Jon Wight is doing it the right way . Who knows what WRG wants anymore . Hey if they kepted Can-am DIRT then they could use the extra Money from you guys to Pay there Legal Battle with Jason Sides who in a round about way is getting F****d just like Can-Am ... Chip Burdick
Yes we did change the schedule. We handed them out all last weekend at the Motorsports Expo. Go to the Can Am web site and go under schedules and you will see it. We never even got a phone call from them.

It just seems as fewer and fewer weekly tracks in the region are DIRT, WRG's influence seems to keep diminshing. The hometrack points requirement was one thing when just about every track in New York as well as places in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware were all DIRT sanctioned and a driver could easily find a weekly track for home track points within an hour or two of home. But with only a handful of weekly Modified tracks even DIRT sanctioned anymore, it does seem like a hassle to find a hometrack for weekly DIRT points. ferg3298
Honestly i went to brewerton weekly last year, hit some of the ROC shows at utica rome and probably seen some of the best racing I have seen in years. This just further pisses me off, I really liked the Canam schedule this year, small block series race and the midweek big block/small block shows. I will still go to those shows for sure, and probably some more. This is completely different then the cayuga fiasco from last year, those open tire rule races were during the regular season. What canam does after regular season points are finished is their business. WRG might want to open their eyes soon, ROC races are building in leaps and bounds, they are drawing double the cars that SDS races draw, and a good cross section of racers instead of the same old same old like the SDS. Looking at the SDS, I might only attend 3 or 4 dirt races this year, outlaw schedule will be large. Up yours WRG
Casper60
So I see Canandaigua as the potential winner in the Big Block category here. Hmmm, makes you see the politics angle.
Sunny
Please explain to me how a sanctioning works? Do NOT shoot me, this is a serious question. If Can Am is now "outlaw", Black Rock is not sold (per a post on the RNY board - I know nothing)so they are still "outlaw", Fonda, U/R, Glen Ridge, et al. do not have the DIRTcar sanction, can't you guys as track owners get together and sanction some races? I'm serious. I never even understood what Glenn wanted out of putting D.I.R.T. together.... It took the "independant" right out of it! Somebody call Donald Trump..... FightForTheRail
Fonda, U/R, Glen Ridge, et al. do not have the DIRTcar sanction, can't you guys as track owners get together and sanction some races?
Why? What would be the purpose? What would some new, made up sanction gain those tracks? Look at places like Big Diamond and Grandview. Those tracks blow away just about every place in New York when it come to purses, and they have never been DIRT sanctioned.
Sunny
Do they have the NASCAR sanction, with all the amenities, including drivers' insurance?

Sunny
I asked the question with the point being - do you need a sanctioning body for rules? How do Big D and Grandview intermingle shows, or don't they? Do they run DIRTcar tech rules, or do they have their own?
Sunny
Second question. Word is - the deal at Black Rock fell through for now, although I have been told Tyler still intends to purchase the track. (Not sure how much hearsay I believe any longer, but....) That brings me to the the point. Should the sale go through at some point before August 9th - the SDS date released PREMATURELY by DIRTcar - how does the sanctioning work? You just call DIRTcar and say "Hey, we wanna join."? How does it work?
HRDProStock
I just don't get why any of it matters? I understand that if you are the driver or owner it makes a difference but for must of us, the fans, it doesn't matter. Each track whether DIRTcar or independent has their weekly racing with a few specials mixed in so why make such a fuss? I am just ready for racing and I don't care if my track flys the DIRTcar banner or not.

BillSmith
Wait a minute. Can-Am gets the boot (as did the Kingsleys) for not running completely under the DIRT rulebook for just a couple of shows... And yet in years past, Cornwall, Brockville, Can-Am, Lebanon Valley and others ran "Run What Ya Brung" races in the middle of the season (non-points) in divisions that were supposedly fully DIRT sanctioned. My brain hurts.
