Is Hearn at The Valley tonight?

Recommended Posts

It may not have been a points race.

Tremont's car was scheduled to be driven by Chase Dowling tonight.

Chase Dowling of Roxbury, CT will make his dirt Modified debut Saturday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, NY. Dowling will drive the Tremont Racing #115x in the  $3,000 to win Maynard Forrette Modified Memorial Race.

IMG_9860-S.jpgS&S Asphalt Paving, a mutual sponsor of Dowling and Tremont, supported Dowling driving the car. “(He) has some talent and has a lot of history to him,” Dowling said of Tremont, a 13-time Lebanon Valley Big Block Modified champion. “Just an experience in itself to learn from him.”

“I been going up there for a while and watching since I was little and racing Go Karts,” Dowling said. “(I) never thought I would have a chance to race there and was shocked when the owner of S&S and the Tremont Racing Team told me I was going to race this year.”

“The dirt Modified are a whole different animal,” Dowling said. “A lot more motor and the suspension is way different. Everything is different. I raced dirt Go Karts and dirt USAC but nothing comparable to a dirt Modified. Just going to go out there (to) have a good time and be grateful of the experience I’m getting and hopefully get some results along the way.”

A Stafford Motor Speedway Rookie of the Year candidate, Dowling is currently eighth in SK Modified®  points after two events with a best finish of third at the NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler.

Paul Garrow I was telling my dad if Hearn's car was there, then I have no problem with being awarded 20 points. He could make a last second appearance.I remember one night back about 3-5 years ago Tremont didn't pull in until it was time for heat races. My question is was Hearn's car physically there.

If you don't attempt to qualify how can you get show up points? Driver receives points....not the car.....if you're not physically there no points should be awarded.

So basically the drivers that weren't there last night got show up points because there kids were graduating most tracks make those nights a non points show or just give show up points to the drivers that could make it as long as everyone that missed the show for graduation purposes got points then there is nothing to complain about. Now if he is the only one that wasn't there because of the graduation then give him show up points you shouldn't punish a driver for putting there family first.

So you give Brett a pass then everyone deserves a pass regardless of the event. I applaud Brett for putting family first. However life is full of choices and those choices come with consequences.

They do? What are some of the tracks that run non points shows on graduation night? None of the tracks around here (Eastern half of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware)  do that. I have never even heard of any track doing that until this thread. Before the Internet, I used to get my AARN on Wednesday or Thursday and hand compute the points at many New York state Modified tracks. I don't even remember any track having non-point shows due to possible graduation conflicts.

What about mid-May, when there are typically college graduations? Should those be non-point shows as well? The entire months of May and June could just be non-points shows because those are popular wedding months  ^_^

I went past Malta Saturday around 4pm and his hauler was still there.  Why didnt he put a replacement driver in the car for the night? Arent you allowed to use a replacement driver 1 time a year? I know this was done at Malta this season and at fonda

I don't know where you got that information. As the handicapper that does the points you're wrong. Brett received NO points. It also was a regular points race.

The guy went to his daughters graduation (like he should). End of story!

He was absent. Zero points. He had 204 points as of last Saturday, 5\17. That is what he will have as of 5\24.

Per handicapping rules, a driver must attempt to qualify for any points to be awarded. There is no "substitute driver" rule in effect at Lebanon Valley.
