2023 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals Entry List

Tis the season! The 2023 Chili Bowl Entry List thread has begun. The 2022 Chili Bowl saw the Entry List with an all new record at 394 drivers filing entries, with 381 drivers competing throughout the 6 days, also a new record. The previous records were 372 entries and 365 competitors in 2017. The 2022 flip count total was 67 (doesn't include the Monday morning practice). It breaks down like this: Monday 8 (First official flip of the week Casey Hicks), Tuesday 11, Wednesday 4, Thursday 13, Friday 10, Saturday 21. Will the 400 mark finally be reached? Will we have another new winner in 2023? Check here leading up to the event for updates & pics as this first page will be updated regularly.

For the first time ever Kyle Larson Racing will be entering the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts. Make plans to join us on Jan. 7-15, 2023 at FK Rod Ends Vado Speedway Park.

Ya that came out yesterday. Technically he could run both events. He could qualify at the CB Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. The only night he’d miss @ Vado would be Saturday for the CB. The problem for him is the fact that he painted himself into a corner with his ridiculous comments a few months ago. If he ran the CB now, he’d be a hypocrite, so I don’t see it happening. Same goes for Brad Sweet. The 2 of them were the only ones complaining about the CB purse.

It was just released by USAC that Tanner Thorson has formed his own team. The #88 Tanner Thorson Racing Midget will debut during the USAC National Midget swing through Cali this month. Nothing has been officially released from Tanner yet, but I would fully expect he’ll run his own deal in Tulsa as well.

I would expect a similar number to 2022, which was 15 drivers and 18 or 19 cars. Keith brings more cars than drivers each year because he generally has 3 or 4 drivers in the VIROC race. Whoever he has in the VIROC doesn’t generally run their CB car. KKM has 11 drivers running during this current Cali USAC Midget swing.

He’s built an amazing company. Not only is it a driver development program, but it’s also a great development program for aspiring crew people. It’s better than any college program can offer, and you learn from the best.
