Hmmm, seems like there are a few 100 drivers or so that don't give a damn that the Chili Bowl only pays $10K and most of them aren't millionaires.

Probably excited! The 2 best guys/heavy favorites are home letting the kids play for Pennies.

One of those guys is not at home letting the kids run for pennies he is running a late model.

How long do the weekday races usually last?  I see they start at 5 (6:00 over here East).  Let's say my body shuts down around 10.  Will I see the end?

Most nights they finish by 10:00/10:30. That would be 11:00/11:30 eastern time.

Playing for pennies? Exactly what is it called when Larson runs a regular show in his Sprint car? Big money?

Yes they are the 2 best and heavy favorites. Not 1 driver at the chili bowl would dispute that. They have only won 5 of the last 6 years. Larson hits some lower paying shows when he’s out traveling and is headed for a big event, that makes sense. You’re already out with that car, his sprint car team isn’t purpose built for a 10k to win show. Idk how many victory lane photos you have seen of him the last few years, but a shitload of them feature much bigger checks than 10k.

Great start 1 for 1 with McIntosh winning and darn near having McIntosh and Windom both locked in already but Golobic nipped Windom at the line for the 2nd a main lock in.

Monday night's A-Main started at 11:10pm eastern and ended at 11:30pm.

IIRC, that’s a pretty normal timeline for the A Main on preliminary nights. Might be slightly before or slightly after some nights.

The one I really wish they could get moved up a little bit is the A main on Saturday. I think it regularly doesn’t go green until 12:30 or later Eastern time.

Tonight through Friday night should be done earlier. There were an abnormal amount of yellows last night for one, and also they had timed hot laps at 4 cars/session and the 20 lap feature for the VIROC race. The rest of the way it’s a normal Qualifying Night.

What are concession prices like at the event?  Selection of food available, is it all the expo center or other vendors?  How much for a beer?

I was looking at hotels and there's good selection at reasonable prices, no gouging that you see when other big events come to areas.  This event is on my bucket list, it's way too far to drive and nothing direct for flights, getting there would be a big cost.

Concessions are priced like most sporting events. It’s all run by the fairgrounds. Not cheap prices but cheap shitty food. I don’t ever eat there except on Saturday because it’s a long day. Plenty of choices for dining around the area prior to heading to the track. Beer is I think $8.50/16 oz & $13.50/24 oz. They sell beer on the grandstand side as well as the pits.

Also there are tons of hotel options too. I always book mine for the next year a few weeks after the current year because it’s much cheaper in February than waiting until November. This week I have a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite @ Homewood Suites, checked in Saturday 1/7, checking out Sunday 1/15 (8 nights) with 3 of us splitting the $1454 cost.

I drove out from Tully NY. Left Friday 1/6 @ 7:44AM, stopped for the night Friday in Rolla MO, was in Tulsa at 11:00AM Saturday. From my driveway to the hotel my Jeep GPS said it was 1301 miles.

Good to find out all that info since I'm not a expert on all drivers and every type of racing, I usually have observations with little knowledge not any where near on par with yours.

A Chili Bowl A-main getting done prior to 10pm EST... That's laughable... If you wanna watch Saturday's finale I'd fire up the coffee pot because that usually doesn't get done until 1:30am or so.  And you'll need to keep yourself entertained somehow from the couch during the 45-60 minutes of track prep that gets done in between the C, B and A mains...

The Chili Bowl isn't exactly known for its ability to run an efficient show.
