Give that up, plus not having his T-shirt trailer at most of the outlaw events will be tough to overcome. Marks won 2 100K or more races. I think It's pretty foolish to expect that going into a season, especially when someone like sweet didnt win any this year. Take away 375k from those 2 wins, and marks season is nowhere near as impressive. Yes, he did win them. Cant take that away from him. But i dont think budgeting on an eldora million, kings royal, husets nationals, or Knoxville nats is the best business move. You almost need to remove them from the equation because you'll do the same in them no matter what schedule type you run. Ends up being the other 80 outlaw races, with a tshirt trailer and 150k+ in point fund and tow money. Plus another 3-4 HL races. Or 80 or so races between WoO/HL/ASCoC. with no real point fund or tow money, and only allowed your shirt trailer at half of em. but you end up with 1 less west coast trip I would be very surprised if they were that mad. Will be interesting to see play out over the next month or so though. Speculation is always a fun time. Even without those two Eldora wins, Marks still had a $300,000 year. He beat the Outlaws at Devil's Bowl, Knoxville and was one of the two dominant cars in central Pa. all year.

Call cautions at Weedsport. The WoO doesn’t know how to look for cars in the infield. Im thinking Sweet and Sheldon walk away for 2023

I don't disagree with you that the boys cutting the checks call the shots. Could split the teams and have Napa/Sweet on the WoO while the other car(s) go real Outlaw. 1) Yes, yes I do. 2) Yes, yes they are. Kasey dropped off the tour when he got banged up again mid-year. Bruce Ellis said something during the fan forum he had with Marks at Knoxville that resonated. Basically the gist was “when you run a true Outlaw schedule you have to win to make money, when you run with the Outlaws you don’t have to win”. I think that’s the challenge for Marks going forward, he had a great year and won a ton of races, but when he has a mediocre year as I’m sure he will at some stage, he won’t make the money a mediocre Outlaw team does. He has to continue to be elite in Central Pa (a hard thing to do) to be as successful as even a top 5 Outlaw team.
con7
The money Marks made this year was phenomenal for not being on a tour, but with the WoO champ getting $350k now and 2nd getting $210k, plus the High Limit stuff and the Million, the top earning sprint car driver should be in the $1.5 to $2m range. If the WoO champion wins the Million plus Husets (a very tall task with the parity in sprint cars) he would win $1.6m just for that.

The money available on the Outlaw tour has increased substantially the last couple years. But the Outlaws have always been a place where guys that rarely to never win can make a living running midpack. I can remember looking at the WoO purse decades ago and seeing that 12th was $1,000 (obviously a driver only gets a percentage of that). I'd bet you can remove the 2 biggest paydays for those guys, and they'll all still be above 300k too. Those 9 guys still ran all 4 of the big money races, and only won 2 of them combined. Being on the tour or not doesn't affect how they will do in those races. They will finish in the same spot if they are a full-timer or a true outlaw type. It affects how much they'll make through the other 80 It is dumb to go into a season expecting to be able to win multiple, or even just one, of the big money races. The sport is way too competitive for that. Any of those wins need to be seen as a bonus.

con7
I assume you’ll see everyone or most everyone sign up, but I could see a fee drop off after Knoxville. You’d avoid the west coast trip and be able to run the PA version of the month of money and a few High Limit shows and still be able to hit all the big Outlaw shows like Jackson, Natty Open etc…

The video essentially says there is nothing stopping sweet (or any of the platinum outlaws) from signing up to begin the season and then dropping off. And the presser doesn't technically say "outlaw championship". Realistically, I don't see KKR, Napa or even Sweet signing up with no intention to honor the terms of the deal. That could burn a lot of bridges in the future for no good reason. In theory, sweet could be a platinum member up until mid-July, when he hits the 9th non-outlaw show (assuming hes follow HL + eldora). Wasn't it Mahaney that violated his deal last year, and became ineligible for a deal this season even if he wanted one? Would be a real self own to do that to yourself and have WRG come up with a big increase in funds for 2024.
chas71
At a minimum, High Limit forced Dirtcar to increase the benefits to the drivers who want to sign up and run the full tour. If Sweet stays the whole year, was that the High Limit plan all along?
