Josh Bayko
11 hours ago, Jack Brady said: Most the content on CBS Sports is pre-recorded or just a replay from somewhere else. Does anyone remember when CBS tried to air a live World of Outlaw race? It sucked, they had no idea what they were in for or how to present it. They thought because they did NASCAR and Indy Cars they knew about racing. They didn't know crap, their camera guys couldn't keep up and their announce team seemed more lost than Mr. Magoo. WRG actually pays CBS to air the dirt races. This idea that the WoO series’ are so mega popular that it gets TV is flawed. And to be fair, Lucas bought a whole TV station to put his product on tv, and that became so unprofitable they switched to a streaming model, then sold those rights to Flo. 1
westracing01
Once again I think that too many people think that because they do something, everyone else does it too. For your consideration... Broadcast and Cable combined still beat Streaming by a wide margin. The majority of my family don't stream anything at all. Indeed, my parents don't even have the internet. When WoO, or anyone, says they have TV, the implication is they are on either broadcast or cable, meaning there is no additional paywall preventing viewership, at least in theory. If you have cable, in this case meaning a cable box and the applicable package for the channels, then you have access to the WoO product. That access can be backed up by various ratings services and households that channel is available to. While DirtVision or Flo are available to anyone with internet, the numbers are misleading. If, combined, 540,000 people have subscriptions to both, and CBSSports (for instance) is available in 3.5 million homes, what sounds better to a potential sponsor... "Hey, we can offer you access to 540,000 subscribers with where we race. Look at all those eyes on your name." "Hey, we can offer you access to 3.5 million homes with where we race. Look at all those eyes on your name." It doesn't necessarily matter than no one actually watches CBSSports... All that matters is it's available as a selling point to sponsors. And... Buying TV time is nothing new for motorsports. Ask Indycar. They bought TV time for a lot of those races for years before Versus and NBC came along to actually offer to pay them.

Curious to see what Carson Macedo, Sheldon, Donny, Gravel and Brad do.

Stop pretending you don’t know that I was referring to normal cable/satellite television. You are simply looking for an argument, but then again, what’s new? Actually Johnny Boy I have been giving you a test . What you might ask ? You see we have all read your posts about how you enjoy pushing peoples buttons so I figured I would push your buttons a little bit to see how you would hold up . How do you think you did ? 2

You are combining broadcast and cable to get some of your numbers. But you can not get CBS Sports Channel on broadcast. . You need the cable box, satellite dish , or the internet to watch it. And where I live, the Spectrum cable TV package does not even offer the CBS Sports channel. The CBS Sports app however is not only available ,but free. Now IF the WoO was on CBS? You might be on to something. Remember This Week on Dirt? What was cool about that, was it was actually on Broadcast TV. ABC to be exact. I used to watch it off an antenna on top of my house. Channel 13 Rochester or Channel 9 Syracuse.

jimbo8574
We finally sort of cut the cord about a year ago. But not really. We have Youtube TV and they have most broadcasts and cable tv channels we care to watch. The have CBS Sports Network in their base plan. I could be wrong I remember watching some WOO LM on there and they didn't even cover all the heats and seemed to miss even parts of the features. It was pretty terrible IMO. Jack Brady
There was a guy in Binghamton that had his own show Something Race Report where he covered all the Southern Tier tracks, plus Dan Harpel said they had a show in the early 90s I think also. I remember reading an article a year or two ago that said 1 in 6 homes in north america don't have a cable/Satellite TV provider. That number inverted to 1 in 6 homes owned/rented by people under 30 have a cable/satellite TV provider. That number will swing to the latter drastically over the next decade. I have noticed a lot more "free TV" streaming though, just have to deal with the commercials kinda like we did growing up. It seems like it's going back to the way Antenna broadcasting worked. They air it for free, we the end user just need to tune it in.... digitally. Same business model that's always worked. Offer a product for free, have advertising pay for it... now with the added bonus of your personal information being collected and sold. vast majority of public don't care or don't know about that anyways.
