Thats what we do! We give all the Big Wealthy Corporations BIG Tax breaks so the officers and shareholders can laugh all the way to the bank. The average hard working guy or girl gets screwed with a BIG tax bill every year on their earned wages. It just keeps getting worse. Josh Bayko
They are currently building 2 Amazon warehouses at once around my way and looking for a location for a third. They’re quickly becoming one of the bigger employers in my area. It’s gonna be like that in NYS too.
Jack Brady
The biggest reason for the warehouse boom in Orange County is because of Stewart Airport in Newburgh. It deals with a lot of freight planes and has one of the longest runways for those type of large planes. And it's so much easier than running the freight down to any of the airports near New York City.
Sicklajoie
We've got 2 Amazon warehouses in North Central Connecticut that were built within the last 2 years that haven't opened yet and are sitting mothballed because they based their sales volume on the pandemic levels when no one was going out and everyone was buying stuff online.
ChrisAkulis
Brick and mortar stores closing every day… if anyone has ever seen the movie Wall-E, that’s where we’re headed as a society. Fat and lazy, everything coming to us in our comfy chairs. As this pertains to Middletown, I already have Eastern States 200 penciled in. Even if it will be another 9s benefit race 😆
Jack Brady
The problem with progress is that it progresses the wrong way. What good is progress if it means laying people off from work because everything is being automated? A large majority of state workers lost their jobs when they automated the tolls. There is less congestion, but all those people had to find new jobs. Same with cashiers the self-check outs allowed a lot of stores to dump employees. Hell at the Stop & Shop they have a robot that does the shelf inventory now. The State and the Corporations are slowly putting a lot of people out of work. They just had an A.I. pass the bar exam and I think it's either this month or next it will be used in court. People in their 20s are quitting college to be influencers on Youtube and TickTock, and whatever else they can find. I know I sound like an old fuddy duddy, lol, but we are becoming our own worst enemies. I went to Staples the other day to find something and the employee had me look it up and wanted me to order it off their computer. I COULD HAVER DONE THAT AT HOME!!! 1

TL97x
Amazon has built 2 warehouses in Ottawa in the last few years, they’re starting their 3rd shortly and have plans for a fourth. This is all in a population of ~1M.

The writing is on the wall though. What was a comedy, is now becoming a documentary. Today though there's still some elders around that could show how to grow a plant (without watering it with gatorade.😁). The United Nation's Agenda 2030 is the screen play that is right on track to making it all fall right in to place too! That agenda turns the Comedy in to a horror movie! Nothing to see here..... Unemployment numbers that are released to the public don't take into account people that have stopped looking for work. The "real" unemployment rate is usually double the rate that we hear about. 2
dan dan
People wouldn't be happy if they received their ordered on the internet stuff and it was stored outside. Therefore the need for warehouse after warehouse.

The facts are a little different than what you posted. When the tolls were automated there was not a "large majority" of state workers who lost their jobs. There were 200 full time jobs cut and one third of those were eligible for retirement. And there were 900 part time jobs cut. And NYS has a current proposed budget that has $18 million invested in programs to increase the workforce. More than 26% of the workforce in NYS is eligible to retire in the next 5 years. The current unemployment rate is 4.3% in NY.

leakin_fluids
I automate/upgrade industrial equipment at work all the time. The cost's to do so have plummeted over the last decade and continue to fall day after day. A/I has gotten to a point now where the only thing stopping it from eliminating nearly all "thinking" jobs is government regulation. Once that genie is out of the bottle, there's no putting it back. They're already replacing all the store staff, next comes the actual stores..... Hence the need for all the warehouses mentioned earlier. The Physical labor jobs are already being replaced as mentioned above. Google the "Art" created by AI. Looks just like any other painting, errors and all. We are not going back to mom and pop stores alone the main streets. With things such as Uber Eats and other delivery services, people will start to get used to not eating out at restaurants too. Movies streamed at home... Just sit back get fat and lazy. This is the first time in history where the wealthy don't need us "worker bees" in order for them to keep progressing and accumulating wealth. We're becoming a society of lazy people who never leave their own homes. In saying that, the next step in healthcare is digital Dr's, and it's already happening. I'd be happy with a pause on the Tech... we're a few steps away from a not so nice place to live.
