DIRTcar Pro Stocks 50 - NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLIX - Oswego Speedway - 2H Luke Horning

By BILL FOLEY

Thirty-one Pro Stocks went under the green on Friday afternoon in hopes of being among the quickest for Sunday’s main event.

“Cousin Luke” Horning is more than pleased with the results that he will sit on the pole.

Looking back on the time trial effort there was a strategy, Luke said, “It was a good time. I took the first lap to simply get the feel of the track and on the second I knew enough to stay low, keep it straight and drive it through the ruts.”

Continuing, he said, “It is a big relief as we are running against the best-of-the-best in the Pro Stock. This sets us up well for the rest of the weekend and I feel real good about it.”

Looking back at the race at Oswego, “Cousin Luke” noted, “We time trialed second in ‘19, but spun out on the sixth or seventh lap in second place. We have had a fast car and I really like this place.”

Series leader Chad Jeseo has never been to the Oswego Speedway before, but that didn’t seem to matter as he will be Horning’s partner in row one.

Chad said, “It is the my first time here, but I’m first following the DIRT Series points. I really feel we’ve got everything we need to get it done. I like it. It will be a trying track, but everyone is on the same track.”

Nick Stone will start third alongside Jason Casey and he said, “We’re in and being third fastest I am happy. The track was slick and eventually I think there might be two grooves for the Pro Stocks. The middle and bottom felt quick.”

Looking back at his previous attempts at Oswego, Stone noted, “I’ve had a couple of top fives with a second the first time and a fourth. It is either than or something crazy going on. I am usually fast here. We just need to put it together.”

Also locking in to the main event were Rick Crane and Josh Coonradt.
