ACCORD, NY – One of the most popular nights of the 2017 racing season at Accord Speedway will take place this coming Friday evening, July 28th. The annual Camera & Autograph Night presented by United Pump & Tank will afford the loyal Accord fan base to go trackside and meet with their favorite drivers and be able to talk to them on a personal basis. The time allotted is based on weather and the schedule format.
United Pump & Tank is again sponsoring the evening of events which will feature all six divisions at the speedway in competition. Steve Lowitt and his United Pump & Tank company has been involved with the Accord Speedway for a number of years sponsoring the Modified division and having their logo adorning the side of a few cars at the speedway. The company offers a wide range of services for the service station industry. They are educated on the latest technologies available and they provide support in service needs, installations, repairs and maintenance. They are located at 443 Quaker Street in Wallkill, New York with a phone number to reach them at: 845-787-3984. Their well informed and extensive website is: www.unitedpumpandtank.com
The season at Accord has been hindered by an excessive amount of rainfall and just got back on track last Friday for the first time in July. “Showtime” Danny Tyler is leading the points for the United Pump and Tank Modifieds and has scored two consecutive victories at Accord. The points race is close and on any given evening a new star has the capacity to find the WRWD Radio victory lane.
“The Bushkill Bullet” Kyle Rohner has earned four wins in the Arkel Motors Sportsman division and is determined to earn another championship at the speedway. Rohner is a former two-time champion at Accord with titles earned in 2010-2011 in the Spec Sportsman division. He will be pushed hard with a solid roster of driving talent competing against him.
The Upstate Auto Pure Stock division has as many as five drivers all within a few points of each other and as we head to the final weeks of the campaign it will all become very interesting as to who works the hardest to earn and claim the title.
Eric Jennings leads the WRWD Radio NEWS Sprint Car Division and will have to remain at his best as New Jersey based Larry McVay just earned his first feature win at Accord last Friday.
Jake Mason still leads the Want Ad Digest Junior Slingshot points but was missing in action last week as was runner-up Brock Pinkerous.
Another big night at Accord Speedway will be the first annual Racers Reunion set to take place August 11th on Kenco Outfitters Night. Frank Bush and Jim Douglas have been non-stop in reaching out to former Accord Speedway drivers to come out and join in with what will be another monumental night at “The Gem in the Catskills.” More than ninety drivers have been contacted for this first ever event. More information will be available next week as the updates are continuous.
The postponed Fireworks Extravaganza scheduled for June 30th will be moved to Labor Day weekend, September 1st, with the Santore’s Group lighting up the sky and the famous Chicken BBQ feeding the hungry crowd.
