GRANBY, QC –  Granby presented Friday night the 36th edition of the Eastern Township Championship and the Mr.Modified.

In the Modified division, Steve Bernier started on the pole for the 50-lap feature. He was in the lead for the first 15 laps of the race, but unfortunately, while attempting to lap another track, he was spun out by them. He regained control of the car but had to start 4TH on the restart. Mario Clair, who started second, took the lead for a few laps before seeing David Hebert pass him. After that, it was all Hebert who won his second consecutive race at Granby and his 7th Mr. Modified title. Mario Clair finished 2nd and with a spectacular restart late in the race, Mathieu Desjardins finished 3rd. Desjardins was 8th before going green and got to 3rd a lap later. Even Racine and Yan Bussière completed the top 5.

Mathieu Voghell took advantage of a green-white checkered finish to pass Patrick Delisle for the win in the Sport Compact division. Delisle was leading on the last lap but a yellow flag ultimately cost him the win. Bruno Lafontaine finished third in front of Sylvain Marcoux et Maxime Baillargeon.  Again, the Sport-Compact stole the show Friday night with some spectacular battles.

Bruno Cyr came short last week in the Pro-Stock race but he did not miss his chance Friday night and won a second feature this year at Granby. He took the lead on lap 21 and led the last 4 laps. Jonathan Lévesque finished second just in front of Jocelyn Roy, Robert Larocque, and Jonathan Lemay. Félix Murray was on the cusp of winning a second feature in a row but a late caution cost him the race. On the restart, Antoine Parent did a superb move to take the lead and win his 1st of the season. Murray finished 2nd in front of CD Beauchamp who got his first top 3 of the year. William Racine finished 4th in front of Donovan Lussier.
