ARDC Midgets, Money in the Mountains Highlights May at Big Diamond Speedway

FORESTVILLE, PA – The first of two appearances for the American Racing Drivers Club midgets will be a part of the exciting month of May at Big Diamond Speedway.

After wrapping up an exciting month of racing in April with a non-stop wingless United Racing Club sprint-car feature, a four-division show of Steel & Metal Service Center 358 modifieds, U.S.S. Achey sportsman, Savage 61 roadrunners and the No Sweat Service Group street stocks will take place this Friday, May 5. In the event of a rain out on Friday, the street stocks will be added to the racing card on May 12.

The gates open on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 8:15. Admission is $15 with kids 12-and-under and active military with a valid ID are free.

It will be White & Blue Autos Night on May 12 when an Enduro Dash 50 will cap off a three-division show of 358 modifieds, sportsman and roadrunners.

The midgets and the vintage cars highlight the Friday, May19 night along with the sportsman, roadrunners, and street stocks. The midgets return on July 21.

The twice postponed Money in the Mountains big block/small block modified challenge event will take place on Friday, May 26, on Slifko Service Center Night/Gone But Not Forgotten Memorial night.

Also on the card that night will be the roadrunners and street stocks.

The MITM 40-lap feature pays $6,000 to win and $400 to start and the winner earns a guaranteed starting spot, a $500 value, for the Short Track Super Series race on June 6.

The first two races of the season for the 358 modifieds has produced more than 30 car in the pits each night and two different winners as Jeff Strunk score the opening-night win while Craig VonDohren was last week’s winner.

VonDohren leads Strunk by 11 points going into Friday’s race with Duane Howard, Billy Pauch, Jr., and, Rick Laubach rounding out the top five.

Mike Mammana won the season-opening sportsman race while Kody Sites is the only driver to repeat so far winning the first two roadrunner features of the year. Elvin Brennan III won the lone street stock event.
