MINERSVILLE, PA – It will be another big night of racing this Friday July 23rd as the PASS/MASS 305 Sprint cars compete for the first time in 2021 on USS Achey night after being rained out back in June. USS Achey Iron and Metal Processors is a buyer of ferrous and non-ferrous metals that has provided recycling services for Schuylkill and surrounding counties for over 40 years. We are a third-generation family business whose top priority is customer service. Our company invests in the most modern scrap metal processing equipment, including a car shredding plant, stationary shear and non-ferrous bailer. Using modern metal processing methods and equipment, we are able to pass the savings onto our customers through highly competitive pricing. You can locate USS Achey at 355 E. 2nd Mountain Road in Schuylkill Haven, PA or call them at 570-366-0781 or on the web at www.ussachey.com
The 305 Sprint division continues to grow every year and this year is no exception as the quality of drivers in this division continues to provide excellent racing. Garrett Bard is the current points leader in the PASS Sprint car club with a small margin over second-place Ken Duke Jr. On the MASS Sprint side Kevin Nagy is leading the way over Eddie Wagner. This dual event should be a wild one as both clubs battle for supremacy to see who comes out on top at Big Diamond.
Originally scheduled to be off this Friday night, the Insigner Performance Modifeds have been added to the program to make up shows due to the many rainouts that plagued the speedway earlier this season. Last Friday night saw points leader Duane Howard win his first feature of the season after a late race battle with Ryan Krachun who is still looking for his first ever Big Diamond win. Krachun has finished second the past two weeks and will looking to close the deal and pickup that coveted first win on Friday night.
The USS Achey Open Sportsman are back on track Friday night with a good battle for the 2021 points title going on. Current points leader Doug Hendricks has a mere thirteen-point lead going into this Friday over Brandon Edgar. It is a race within a race each week as these two combatants battle to see who can get to the front first as they race towards the 2021 championship. The last time we raced it was Mike Burrows who picked up the win for the second time this season.
In the ultra-competitive Savage 61 Crate 602 division, we saw another first-time winner last Friday in young Logan Watt. This division continues to grow, and the competition is some of the best around. There have been no repeat winners this season in the Crates which shows how tough it is to win in this division.
If you were in attendance last week at Big Diamond, you witnessed one of the best Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner features in their history. Five cars, yes, I said five cars all ran side by side putting on a fascinating show for the fans. Ronny Suhr Jr, Andrew Fayash III, Mat Ney, Alex Schoffstall & Kris Ney raced a race that will be remembered for a long time as they sliced and diced amongst each other without ever touching. Ronny Suhr Jr came out on top last Friday, can he make it two in a row this Friday?
Pit Gates will open on Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.
