Big Diamond, Updated Schedule for April

MINERSVILLER, PA – It was set-up to be a perfect opening night last Friday at Big Diamond Speedway. With 31 Insigner Performance Modifieds, 27 USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and 17 Red White and Blue Roadrunners on hand and the track groomed to perfection the stage was set. But like in previous years, Mother Nature decided it was not to be and decided to make her presence felt as the teams were on the track for hot laps. As the rain became harder, the cars were sent back to the pits with the hopes that the rain would stop, and the racing could begin. The rain did stop but unfortunately, the track was completely lost and with more rain on the radar the decision was made to postpone opening night.

With Friday’s night postponement, promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley have revamped the schedule for the month of April.

Updated April Schedule:

Friday, April 15th: Season Opener! Spin City Night, Modifieds $4,000 to win, Crate 602 Sportsman $1,000 to win, Roadrunners $400 to win.

Friday, April 22nd: Fritz Roehrig Memorial, Money in the Mountains Modified 50. $12,000 to win. Crate 602 Sportsman $1,000 to win along with the Roadrunners.

Friday, April 29th: Tony’s Meat Market Night. Modifieds, 602 Crate 602 Sportsman, Roadrunners and 600cc Modifieds.

As stated above, Friday April 15th will now serve as opening night sponsored by Spin City. The Insigner Performance Modifieds will race 25 laps for $4,000 to win. There will be a completely new redraw for all divisions.

Last Friday before the rains came, there was a stellar field of modifieds on hand including defending champion Timmy Buckwalter, Duane Howard, Craig Von Dohren, Billy Pauch Jr, Jeff Strunk, Rick Laubach, defending Coalcracker race winner Alex Yankowski, Rick Laubach, Ryan Watt, Nick Rochinski, Dominick Buffalino, Brett Kressley, Anthony Perrego and many others all looking to take home the extra cash being offered.

The USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman also had a good field of cars on hand Friday night. Steve Lyle was looking to repeat his opening night win from last year but to do that he would have to hold off the likes of Kyle Kania, Logan Watt, Danny Buccafusca, Ryan Conrad, Daryle Dissinger, Brandon Edgar, Grant Hilfiger, Doug Smith and others all wanting to etch their names in the record books of Big Diamond opening winners. The Crate 602 Sportsman will race for $1,000 winner’s share.

The door banging always exciting Red White and Blue Roadrunners will round out the opening night racing card racing for $400 to win. Defending Roadrunner track champion Andrew Fayash III will be in the field to get his second opening night win in a row but last year’s other multi-time winner Alex Schoffstall looks to prevent that from happening along with many others.

All gates will open this Friday at 5:00 pm

Pit passes are $35 for Big Diamond Speedway members. Non-member pit passes are $40. *Wristbands from last Friday night will be good for the next two weeks of racing at face value*

Warmups get underway at 7:15 PM with racing starting at 7:45 PM.

General admission on Friday night will be $20, Kids under 16 are free. Active military are admitted free with a valid ID.
