Big Diamond: 410’s, Mods & The General Lee On One Night

MINERSVILLE, PA-After losing last Friday to Mother Nature, the Big Diamond Speedway will be back in a big way this Friday night when the mighty winged 410 sprint cars make their yearly visit to coal country. This race is a must see at Big Diamond as the winged warriors bring their high-speed action to Schuylkill County.

Joining the 410 sprint cars on Friday night will be the Quandel Concrete Modifieds, the USS Achey, Inc. Crate 602 Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunners.

Last year’s 410 race was a fierce battle between Mark Smith and Freddie Rahmer early on and late in the race between Smith and Jeff Halligan with Smith holding off for the victory. Friday’s race will pay $5,000 to the winner with $500 to take the green. With no other local 410 sprint tracks racing this Friday night due to the Knoxville Nationals, look for a strong contingent of sprints to make the drive to Big Diamond on Friday night. Regular modified competitor Timmy Buckwalter will be racing a 410 sprint on Friday night giving the hometown crowd something to cheer for. The drivers expected to compete this Friday are 2022 winner of this race Mark Smith Tyler Ross, 2021 winner Cory Haas, Steven Kisamore, Ryan Smith, Devon Adams, TJ Greve, Chris Frank, Hayden Miller, Dylan Norris and Reese Nowatarski with more expected.

Brett Kressley is still showing the way in the race for the Quandel Concrete Modified points championship with a 152-point advantage over Mike Gular who is possibly the hottest driver on the Pennsylvania circuit right now with wins in five of his last seven races. Gular will look to keep that momentum going on Friday night and cut into Kressley’s lead with only four-point shows remaining. Jeff Strunk, Louden Reimert and Rick Laubach complete the top five in the championship standings.

Jordan Henn will be looking to get back on track in the USS Achey, Inc Crate 602 Sportsman after losing the championship points lead to Logan Watt after succumbing to engine issues in the previous race. Danny Buccafusca has been making a late season push in the standings and now sits in third only 84 points out of the top spot.

Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner points leader Chuck Fayash will be looking to add to his lead on Friday night as the always exciting Roadrunners race towards the end of the season.

Also, this Friday night, Dukes of Hazzard star Tom Wopat will be on hand with a spot-on replica of the General Lee. Tom Wopat “Luke Duke” will have a meet and greet to sign autographs for the fans.

The pit gates will open Friday night at 5:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM.

Cars will hit the track at 7:00 PM for track run in with hotlaps getting going at 7:15 PM, racing will follow.
