BREWERTON, NY – The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour saw another fresh new face in victory lane as well as a familiar one this past Friday night at the D-Shaped Demon.
With 25 cars signed into the pits the series was finally able to run separate features for both it’s Nostalgia and Modified classes. The result was two very competitive features with the older Nostalgia cars being able to use the entire race track and not have to worry about staying out of the way of the faster, lighter Modified cars.
Kenny Polite of Prescott, Ont made his first ever appearance count by snagging the checkers in the Modified class 15 lap feature go. Polite worked his way from eighth on the starting grid putting a move on points leader Bob Johnson of Horseheads, NY after a late race restart. Johnson would have to settle for second. Steve Billings of Merrickville, Ont would drive his Father’s Corvair bodied machine to a third place finish, John Stanley of Kingston, Ont and Paul Billings from Stittsville, Ont would round out the fast five.
“It’s different” Polite remarked on the shape of the track, “You’ve got to be a driver to drive this track, never been here before and I’m glad I came”
Over in the Nostalgia division Scott Gauthier of Mooers, NY made it 2 for 2, following up his win a few weeks ago at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway with a convincing victory in their 15 lap feature. Tim McColman of Kingston, Ont held off Merrickville, Ontario’s Tim Charland for second, Penn Yan, NY’s Craig Chisom and Phil Claussen of Oak Brook, Illinois would round out the top five.
“This was a riot” exclaimed a very happy Gauthier in victory lane, “It was a blast”
