KINGSTON, ON-The Kim and Dan Dawdy owned number 88Z DIRTCar Sportsman entry has been dominant the last two seasons across the Northeast with driver Bobby Herrington behind the wheel. The new year will also see a new sponsor as plans for the 2023 campaign begin to take shape.
Kingston Ontario native Doug Martin, the owner of Martin’s Fireplaces, is now onboard with the Dawdy Racing Team and driver Bobby Herrington as they look to top what was an outstanding 2022 season.
Last year the team hit everything but the lottery taking the 2022 Brockville Ontario Speedway DIRTCar Sportsman track title for a second straight year, the track’s Ogilvie’s Sportsman Triple Crown Series title, Trailer Pro Canada Sportsman win, Applefest Shootout Weekend sweep, Brockville Speedway Fall Nationals Weekend Sweep and 2 wins at the Cornwall Speedway Fall weekend.
In total the team managed to rack up 16 feature wins with 10 coming at Brockville, one win shy of tying the all time single season win record.
With Martin’s Fireplaces onboard for the year, the Dawdy Racing Team and Bobby Herrington, look to have just as strong of a season this year as they look to chase a third straight Brockville Ontario Speedway DIRTCar Sportsman Track title.
Herrington also looks to defend the Ogilvie’s Sportsman Triple Crown Series once again, tentative plans are also in the works to compete at several area speedways including a return to the Brighton Speedway, in search of another Applefest Shootout crown. The team is also actively seeking more sponsorship for the new season in hopes of competing in more events around the Northeast. A full schedule of events and full sponsor line up for the Dawdy Racing Team is set to be announced very soon.
With the continued support of long time, key sponsors, Osprey Stables, Jensen Building, Martin’s Bus Service, Corcoran Excavating, Killingbeck Transport and North American Truck Driving Academy, the Dawdy Racing Team and Bobby Herrington, look to have just as strong of a season this year as they look to chase a third straight Brockville Ontario Speedway DIRTCar Sportsman Track title.
