Tim Fuller and Stewart Friesen opened up the 2017 Super DIRTcar Series portion of the DIRTcar Nationals by proving to be fast out of the gate. Fuller was quickest in the first two sessions of hot laps with a best lap time of 17.140 around the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile.” Friesen was quickest in the final session at 18.893.
“This is good for down here,” said Fuller. “We did a lot of things during the off-season. We went to Georgia and tested. We did everything we could do. We capitalized on some things we did wrong last year. We got some better motors, just a lot of different combinations.”
Fuller hopes this is a sign of good things to come for his new team Graham Racing. He knows that in order to have a shot at winning a gator at Volusia you need to have good starting positions. So far things have been on point for his Enders Racing Engines powered Bicknell.
“We got to come here and time trial good and heat race good,” commented Fuller. “If we start up front here we are going to be contenders and that’s all you can ask for. You got to get lined up.”
