Thomas Satisfied with Chili Bowl Results; Ready for Busy 2018 – DTD Exclusive

Kevin Thomas Jr., the 2017 USAC Indiana Sprint Week champion and the 2016 Kokomo Speedway track champion out of Indianapolis , ad 18 wins on the season. At the Chili Bowl, Thomas finished third on his qualify night securing him a position in the A-Main on Saturday. He ended up finishing ninth in the A. I caught up with Kevin to discuss how his 2017 season went, his Chili Bowl outcome and the upcoming 2018 season.

Dirt Track Digest: How did the Chili Bowl go for you? Do you plan on going back next year?

Kevin Thomas Jr.: “Went pretty good.  It was my first time making the show so everyone was pleased.  I was talking to Sean Micheals yesterday to see what we could’ve done differently. All and all I feel like we did a great job. Absolutely I will be going back always a fun week and it’s always a fun track to race on.”

DTD: How did the 2017 racing season treat you? What are your 2018 racing season plans?

KTJ: “It started off pretty trying.  I drove the Buffalo Wild Wings winged car in the beginning and that didn’t work out.  In March I was looking for a ride. I hooked up with Dan Pace and I tried out a winged car. I stayed with him for a couple months until I got my feet wet then we went our separate ways and I started my own team up. For 2018 I will be running the full USAC season with Hoffman Auto Racing and Mean Green and I will be also running the full USAC Midget tour as well with Petry Motorsports. Also we are weekly racing as well. We have close to 100 races on our schedule. I thought it would be a washout year but it ended up being a great year with 20 wins.”

DTD: Is there anybody you want to thank for the fun you had in the 2017 racing season and the upcoming 2018 racing season?

KTJ: “For the 2017 racing season I have to thank my dad, Dave Abreu, Indy Metal Finishing, Hinchman Racewear, for 2018 Mean Green and Hoffman Auto Racing, Jeff Walker, Lykens, Schoenfeld Headers and KT Construction Services.”

DTD: Do you have any social media’s where the fans can follow you in the 2018 racing season?

KTJ: Facebook Kevin Tomas JR Twitter KTmotorsports , Instagram kevintomasjr, Twitter Kevin Thomas Jr.
