Howand and Getz Have New Home on Saturday Nights – DTD Exclusive

15G Duane Howard

Veteran driver Duane Howard and the No. 15G Getz Motorsports team have decided to make a change in 2023 on Saturday nights. Calling Grandview their home for the past two years, Howard and team owner Butch Getz have decided to make a change for the upcoming season and race weekly at Bridgeport Motorsports Park.

It was a long and tough decision for the team to make but is one they thought the team needed to make to stay fresh.

“We have thought long and hard regarding this decision,” said team owner Butch Getz. “It was not an easy decision to make for sure but one we all decided upon in unison. We just thought a change was needed and it would be good for the team to take on the challenge of racing at a different track. Bridgeport (Motorsport Park) is different from any other track and will provide our team with a new challenge. This decision has nothing to do with Grandview Speedway as we will continue to support them whenever we can.”

Driver Duane Howard has had much prior success at Bridgeport Motorsports Park albeit under the old track configuration. Howard does have a total of 48 career wins and four track championships at the South Jersey dirt oval but has not raced on the new 4/10’s oval that often. Howard has been fast on the few occasions he has raced on the new configuration and in fact was leading a feature by a wide margin two years ago before motor problems sidelined the team.

Bridgeport Motorsport Park promoter Doug Rose is happy to have Howard and the Getz Motorsport team as a weekly competitor in 2023.

“We are excited and proud to have Duane and the entire Butch Getz team racing at our speedway this season,” commented Rose. “Duane is a four-time track champion and brings a lot of enthusiasm to the speedway. Duane wins wherever he goes, and I am sure he will make his way to victory lane quickly here at Bridgeport.”

The No. 15G team has already visited victory lane on two occasions this season, once at Lincoln Speedway and once at BAPS Speedway and are looking forward to keeping that momentum rolling with both Big Diamond and Bridgeport Motorsports Park opening their seasons this weekend.
