Local series set to steal the spotlight at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Martin Bélanger – With a little bit more than 2 weeks to go before to start the 2017 season, the hype is building around the 3 local series that the Modified, Sportsman and Mini-Stock will be able to run this coming year at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Canadian Nationals Modified Series

This very popular series will be in her 8 th edition with 3 scheduled events of 125 laps each

that will start on Sunday, May 21 with the 2 nd race on Sunday, August 6 and the final race

on September 3 rd . More than $3,000 in prize will be given for perfect attendance




including a prize worth $2,000 from BERT, a barrel of fuel as well as Hoosier tires. A

point funds valued at $4,000 will up for grabs as well for the drivers. Last season an

average of 33 cars attended with Carey Terrance being crowned the champion.

Race for the Cure Sportsman Series

The initial edition was a great success in 2016 with Sportsman racer Steve Morris being

the instigator of the project as it brought great competition throughout the year. Morris is

back this season with TAS Racing offering over $6,000 in Bicknell Racing Products

Certificate to the top 3 as well as an Olson Fab points funds worth $2,500. The first event

will be run on Monday, May 22 nd part of the 2-day weekend event. The second race will

be on Sunday July 23 rd with the final event being run on Sunday, August 20 th . All events

will 100-lap in distance. Shane Pecore had a great championship run winning the first

crown as he competed against a average of 38 competitors.

Cindy Ladouceur Memorial Mini-Stock Series

A new Series starting this summer as Rheal and Terry Ladouceur immediately answered

the call to sponsor the series in offering a great $1,500 points fund as several sponsors

joined the Perfect Attendance in the series draw with over $1,100 in prizes. This new

Series will attract several invaders from Ontario and Quebec, a great amount of interest

was shown by the Mini-Stock communities over the off-season. This first race is

scheduled on Sunday, May 21; the second will be on Sunday, June 25 with the finale

presented on Sunday, August 6 th as each race will be of a distance of 25 laps.

Ultimate Pro-Stock Series

Using a regional format, the Ultimate Pro-Stock Series will enable our Pro-Stock drivers

to visit a total of 5 different tracks during this series with Airborne Speedway being

added to the mix. Starting at RPM Speedway on May 13 th , the series will make a stop to

Cornwall on Sunday, July 2 nd headlining the Canada 150 festivities. Each event will be 50

laps.
