CORNWALL, ONT – The countdown has almost expired as we are less than 5 days before our season opener at Cornwall Motor Speedway, the Lavergne family and staff are hard at work to finalize the facilities and will be ready to host a big 2-day event starting this Sunday, May 20.
Draper Doors Canadian Nationals to start 2018!
The Draper Doors Canadian Nationals Modified Series will start the season with 100 laps of Modified action, we are expecting some of the visiting drivers in the 358 Modified ranks such as O’Canada 150 winner, Tim Fuller, David Hebert, Steve Bernard, Steve Bernier, Yan Bussière, Bobby Herrington, Jordan McCreadie, Michael Parent, Luke Whitteker and several others. Chris Raabe will be in attendance and will look to defend his 2017 title as he had won the initial round last season, he will be accompanied by home track challengers such as Carey Terrance, Kayle Robidoux, Mario Clair, Kyle Dingwall, Corey Wheeler, Joey Ladouceur, Louie Jackson Jr and others. A full grid of participants is expected as the talent pool will be high.
The Next Level Home Improvement Sportsman, Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock and Tracy Wheeler Assist2Sell Mini-Stock will also be on hand for a regular event in each of the division as the track championships will start on Sunday evening.
Race for the Cure Sportsman Series on Monday!
The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series will have the spotlight on Monday afternoon as the Sportsman will run a 100-lap event, last year’s champion Johnathon Ferguson will look in defending his title, and he already has a strong 2018 start with 2 wins under his belt! He will have his hands full with a mix of invaders and locals that will include Martin Pelletier, Ryan Stabler, Alex Lajoie, Justin Lalancette, Brianna Ladouceur, Robert Delormier, Patrick Picotin, Moise Page, David Rogers, Felix Murray, Tristan Draper and possibly Shane Pecore that would want to claim the title again. Between 35 and 40 cars are expected to show up.
The Polar Sound DJ Services Modified will have an extended 40-lap race with a $2,000 to win payout that should attract a few invaders, the Eastern Ontario Vintage Club and Tracy Wheeler Assist2Sell Mini-Stock will be in action as well.
Information for both days
For Sunday, May 20th, the pit gate will open at 3pm access price at 40$; general admission will be opening at 4:30pm with entry prices set at 30$ for adults, 20$ for seniors 65 years and plus and kids 16 years and under can enter for 2$. Time Trials are set for 6pm and qualifying rounds starting at 6:30pm.
For Monday, May 21st, the pit gate is scheduled to open at noon with access price at 30$; general admission will open at 1:30pm with prices set at 20$ for adults, 10$ for seniors 65 years and plus and kids 16 years and under at 2$. Time Trials are set for 3pm and heat racing starting at 3:30pm.
Great practice session!
The speedway had a practice session with about 15 cars in attendance as they ran the first laps of the season on the speedway.
