CORNWALL, ON – It was one of the biggest nights of the season as the Modifieds had the third round of the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals series, which gave $10,000 to the winner at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
In the Fat Les Chip Stand Canadian Nationals 100 lap finale, Mat Williamson jumped ahead of Mario Clair and Erick Rudolph.
Yellow came out on lap nine for an accident on turn two. Williamson remained first, with Felix Roy now third behind Clair.
Roy used the inside line and passed Clair on lap 15 to take over second.
Roy was very quick and took the lead from Williamson on lap 18.
While the leaders were in heavy traffic, Robert Delormier brought out the caution on lap 29.
At the green, Roy got a good jump over the rest of the field as Clair again looked to challenge Williamson.
Steve Bernier brought out another yellow on lap 41.
On the restart, David Hebert moved up to second as he approached the leader. Roy, Hébert, and Williamson made up the top three as the race reached the halfway point.
The leaders were in heavy traffic, and Williamson regained second place with 35 laps to go.
Roy maneuvered well in heavy traffic, kept a good distance on Williamson, and came home to win his second race this season at Cornwall, while Williamson and Tim Fuller completed the podium.
