SUSQUEHANNA, PA – The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour will see its first action of the 2020 season this Friday at the Penn Can Speedway and Saturday at the 5 Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood, NY.
With the Canada/USA border still closed to non essential travel, the series will be without a large number of familiar faces including Megan Ciglich, Tim Hegarty, Matt Barbour, Jason Powers, Josh Powers, Ryan Comeau, Brian Powley and Allie Elkins who drives the Canadian owned Pete Stapper machine.
However, the show will go on with the 2019 Nostalgia Champ Brad Litzenberger debuting a new ride for 2020. Scott Gauthier looks to make his first ever appearances at the two Southern Tier tracks a successful one by picking up where he left off in 2019. Joe Makowski, Jim Hilimire and Craig Chisom return to action in the Nostalgia class with newcomers Alan McDonald and Mike Garris looking to turn their first ever DMNT laps.
The Modified division will see Chip Gauthier wheeling his new entry, the former Bob Johnson 2019 Championship machine. Steve Longo should be in the hunt for feature wins this weekend, Longo raced several DMNT shows in 2019 with his best showing in the season finale at Paradise Speedway, a second place finish. Jay Garris and Bill Leonard look to turn their first DMNT laps this weekend as well.
The DMNT will also be introducing a new class, Super Unlimited. This division will feature mostly Mud Bus style cars from the mid 80’s and lots of horsepower. With a pretty wide open rules package anything and everything could show up from potent 358’s to fuel injected big blocks. Mike Hougtaling, Larry Sullivan, John Flach and Duane Hiller are among some of the new faces we expect to see in the new division.
It’s been a long winter and an even longer spring with current world events. We are all looking forward to slinging some dirt and getting 2020 started.
The 2020 Edition of the DMNT is brought to you by CARtoons Magazine.
