CENTER LISLE, NY – After a frustrating 2021, Honesdale, PA native Duane Hiller finally got the elusive first feature win with the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour series here Saturday night.
By virtue of the handicap system Hiller would start 7th on the grid. By lap 2 the 80 machine would sit third when the first of two cautions would come out for the 5 car of Ace Prentice. This would put Hiller third on the restart behind leader Joe August Jr and Steve Longo. A terrific battle between Hiller and August would ensue, with Hiller pulling away after several laps.
Late in the race the second caution would come out for Prentice. August would try a dive bomb going into one on the restart but would not be able to make it work. Bill Leonard of McGraw, NY, Longo and John West of Constantia, NY would complete the fast five.
Heats were won by Longo and Hiller.
Pit notes: Jim Kirkwood of Clearfield, PA would not make it to the track with trailer issues, he was only a handful of miles away…John West had to start scratch on the field with distributor issues before the heats…Longo with fuel pressure issues in the 20…Race Director Mike Verbeek back up in the tower after a long couple of years…Ryan Hegarty did a great job as an Official for his first night on the job…top three cars all made weight after the feature
