Bailey Back on Top with Sign Shop @Kinney’s Lucas Oil ESS iRacing Series Win at Williams Grove

SYRACUSE, NY – Last week Bryce Bailey’s streak ended at five in a row for winning on The Sign Shop @Kinney’s Lucas Oil ESS iRacing Series. Tuesday night at the virtual Williams Grove Speedway, the Waverly, NY pilot started in position three, took the lead early and held off challenges from Rylin Turley, Bobby Hackel, Bryan Kata, Kody Hartlaub and more to get win #6 and open up his point lead once again.

At the start of the 25 lap A-Main, fast-timer and heat winner in Kata went back and forth with Bailey for the first few laps before Bryce’s FX Caprara sponsored ride took control. “Bryan and I had a good race there at the start, he’s fast here and I knew I couldn’t make any mistakes,” said the 16 year old Bailey. “I was settling into a good groove and then all of a sudden Rylin just about blew my decals off.”

On lap 15, Turley was making the low lane around the big half-mile work and he shot past Bailey just before the yellow came out. On the next restart, Bailey went back up to the cushion and worked is way back past Turley.

“I just went back to hitting my lines, I was thinking the top was still faster and I got back around,” Bailey continued, “Then I just needed to survive all the restarts at the end which we were lucky enough to do to get another win.”

Bobby Hackel was in the top five all race and made a late move to grab second from Kata at the checkers. “That was a good race. I was trying to find the right lane to run for most of it,” said the big block modified runner, “I was following the #87 (Turley) down low, Bryan was running high and I was just trying to find what worked for me. To get second, I’m really happy.”

For Kata, his string of top finishes continues, and he is also climbing the points. “I really like Williams Grove, I wish I would race it in real life,” said the remote control racing star, “I was hoping to give Bryce a run but it was a really good race with so many guys out there.”

Finishing behind Bailey, Hackel and Kata was 2019 Lucas Oil ESS Champion Paulie Colgiovanni with Turley fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Shilo Boyce for his best finish of the season, Troy Wagaman Jr., who started 19th in the field and is now back to second in points, Brandon Planck, 24th place starting Stevin Goldner and Rob Hile.
