The northeast is a buzz with tales of a Winter Nationals event for the 602 Crate sportsman so here it is officially.
The inaugural event will be in conjunction with the Winter Nationals For The Locals show usually run the end of January now moved to a three day show February 7th-10th
“We will run the Winter Nationals For The Locals with the same format it has enjoyed for so many years featuring all of our divisions over a three day period but this year they will also be a part of what we believe will be the beginning of something really big for fans and racers alike.” said track owner Phil Guadagno.
“The 602 sportsman will venture down from the northeast for three nights of exciting racing running under the DIRT rule book February 7th through the 10th with Thursday being a open practice night”.
This is also the weekend after our annual UMP / Super Late Model Winter Nationals so folks can come and spend two weeks free of charge with their R.V.’s right at the track camping.
“We hope to bring 100 cars or more as this will be the week before the Big Blocks make their appearance at VSP.”
“Sportsman racers can venture down do some racing and then head over to VSP and enjoy watching the big blocks do their thing before heading home.”
“There has been so much talk about what’s going on in regards to this show in the northeast that we wanted to make things a little bit clearer.”
Granted we are still working details out such as purse structure but rest assured it will be worth the trip for the sportsman warriors.”
“Also this is the initial show and we want to see how it goes year one and then possibly increase it to a full two weekend event in 2020.” exclaimed Guadagno
“We will start on filling in the details now and expect to see more on it here in the south and in the northeast.”
“Whether it succeeds will depend on the inaugural event and with hundreds of these cars running at various tracks in New York , Pa. and N.J. we expect year one to set the course for a great Winter Nationals event for years to come”
