BUFFALO, NY – Over the course of the pre-Independence Day holiday weekend, Race of Champions 602 Dirt Sportsman Modified Series racers will have the opportunity to take a short drive in either direction of downtown Buffalo, New York and compete in two races. Stateline Speedway near Jamestown, N.Y., will offer $1,250-to-win, while Sunday at Humberstone in Port Colborne, Ontario, racers will have the opportunity to race for $1,000-to-win. The doubleheader weekend will fill racers and fans plates as they celebrate and enjoy a holiday weekend jam packed with exciting racing.
The Series makes its first ever stop at Stateline Speedway near Jamestown, New York, as the track runs the “Open Wheel Mania” to kick off the Independence Day Weekend celebrations with a big night of racing. The Series picks up again on Sunday with a Canada Day spectacular on July 1 at the New Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario with the “Canada Day $1,000-to-win Showdown”.
Each track presents racers with a unique set of challenges along with solid purses for racers in their two nights of racing.
“This is an exciting series and a lot of fun,” stated Chad Chevalier, who is the defending Series champion. “We have a bunch of great racers to compete with and it goes back and forth. Stateline is new to us and Humberstone offer some unique challenges and we will all be up for them when the green flag drops. We are looking forward to getting things going and having an exciting Series. Hopefully, we can put it all together again and repeat as champions.”
The Stateline Speedway event will mark the beginning of the championship chase for the $1,000 top prize and coveted championship helmet. It also signifies the first event for the Speed51.com Top of the Board Award giving $51 to the driver with the fastest lap overall in “Green-White-Checker” qualifying in addition to the Most Popular Driver Award, with balloting to begin later this year.
