AFTON, NY – Since the season ended back on September 7th the rumors and speculation on the future of the Afton Motorsports Park has been bantered about in the racing circles. All of the speculation and rumors can now be put to rest as Ford announced today that he will be back at the helm at Afton Motorsports Park for the 2019 racing season.
“It takes time after the season is over to get an opportunity to really sit down and talk with The Afton Driving Park ( Afton Fair Board ) about the next season ” said Ford Friday morning. “They are very happy with me and I am very happy with them and how they treat me and all we had to basically do was dot the i’s and cross the t’s on the lease. We have a really great relationship.”
“We are very happy with Ronnie and the fine job he has done at Afton Motorsports Park the past two years,” said Afton Driving Park President Rhonda Barriger. “We have a good and fair lease agreement signed that is beneficial to both Ronnie and the Afton Driving Park for the 2019 racing season.”
During the month of November there will be rule meetings for the divisions that will be racing in 2019 at Afton Motorsports Park. Also the 2018 Banquet is currently in the planning stages and more information on this festive affair will be released shortly.
Ford said, ” I am still looking for good clay to put on the track before snow flies. If anyone knows where good clay is please call me ASAP at 607 – 624 – 3772. ”
Afton Motorsports Park is tentatively looking at opening in mid April 2019 with test and tune sessions with a season opener slated for the last Friday of April 2019.
