Santa Claus Ready to Celebrate the Holidays at the ‘Gobbler’ at Accord Speedway on Nov 30

ACCORD, NY – Santa Claus is coming to town a bit early this year.  The North Pole native is set to make an appearance at the Accord Speedway on Saturday, November 30, for the ‘Gobbler.’

Santa Claus will be at the gate greeting children as they come in offering candy canes as well as free ‘Gobbler’ stickers.  As part of the day’s activities with Santa Claus, Accord Speedway is also collecting new, unwrapped toys to be donated to local families to make the holiday’s a little bit better.

The on-track action for the ‘Gobbler’ features the final outdoor event of the 2019 season for the big/small Modifieds.  The 50-lap finale is worth $5,000 to the winner with a hefty $300 payday going to each driver that makes the starting field.

With a hiatus in 2018 due to weather, the last ‘Gobbler’ ran back in 2017 with a feature event that had fans on their feet.  Andy Bachetti and Mike Ricci Jr., raced side-by-side for a majority of the feature with Bachetti edging him out at the checkered flag to take the win.

Anthony Perrego is a two-time winner of the ‘Gobbler.’  The Middletown, N.Y., native is always one of the favorites when he makes the trek to the quarter-mile.  He’ll be joined by a host of Modified talent as everyone looks to close out 2019 on a high-note.  In 2017, 39 Modifieds trekked to Accord Speedway to cap the year.

When the ‘Gobbler’ ran back in 2014 it was Jackie Brown Jr., pulling off the upset win over a star-studded field.  In 2015 it was ‘the Doctor’ Danny Johnson trouncing the field for the big money.

Besides the Modified feast, fans will be treated to some great sides to fill out their racing appetite.  The 602 Sportsman have a full plate as they go 30-laps with $1,500 going to the winner.  Everyone that makes the field is guaranteed $100 for their efforts.  Kyle Rohner is the defending winner of the Sportsman program.

The Street-Stock winner will stuff his pockets with $500.  A 50-lap Enduro completes the afternoon.  That 50-lap race is worth $1,000 to winner (with 50-cars registered).  The top five will be paid in the Enduro.

In 2017, 177 cars jammed the pit area to close out the season.  Another strong field of cars is expected for this post-Thanksgiving feast.

Pit gates open at 9 a.m. on November 30 while spectator gates swing open at 10 a.m.  The drivers meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with hot laps beginning promptly at Noon.  Racing is slated to take the green at 1 p.m.
