Dirt Track Digest’s Lockdown Showdown last weekend had numerous sponsors step up to make the payout over $1,300. The North East Stock Car Old Timers (NESCOT) also joined the fold. The organization started in 1985 as club for old-time race car drivers. They treat all drivers, regardless of division, the same. NESCOT’s largest fundraiser is the annual NESCOT lottery calendar, which uses its proceeds to help those in the racing community in a time of need. The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints continue to be a part of this event as well as for a second consecutive event they are sponsoring all B-Mains. Each B-Main winner receives $20 from the Northeast 360 Sprint Car organization. Although racing is on hold, their schedule can be found on their website at www.empiresupersprints.com.
RL Cleaning is the official sponsor of the preliminary night C-Mains and Saturday night’s Hard Charger. Camp Mayhem returns in a big way. This groups of race-fans spend each year together camping at the National Open at the Williams Grove Speedway in early fall. So far, the group has raised nearly $200 to be broken down and paid out to drivers just missing making the A-Main on all three nights as well as for the driver that misses the cut in the point standings.
Dirt Modified and Sportsman drivers that enter the event, Rob Mortier from RPM Collectibles has jumped on board to sponsor a unique award for the Confinement Classic. Entries into the Thursday and Friday night preliminary events are now full. Only a handful of spots remain in the prelim to the preliminary night on Wednesday the Go to Confinement 25. Entries 96 through 155 will be placed in this event, not for broadcast with the top five in the A-Main locking into the Friday preliminary event.
The Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Confinement Classic presented by Dirt Track Digest is an iRacing event being held at the virtual Eldora Speedway. The entire program will be broadcast live through the Dirt Track Digest Facebook page with racing beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday April 23, Friday April 24. The Saturday night program begins at 7 p.m. The feed features a Dirt Track Digest TV Xtra format with live scoring and in race commentating from Northeast announcers Shane Andrews and Mike Mallett.
