It has been a busy off season full of changes for Dan Creeden and the 16X team. Dan checks in to discuss making Five Mile Point his Saturday night home for the upcoming season as well as sponsor news and notes.
What are you looking forward to about Five Mile Point Speedway being your Saturday home this year ?
Creeden: I’ve never committed to a full season at Five Mile so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do up there. We had a bunch of success there when we last ran TEO’s so I’m hoping to continue that success. Also, It’s more direct territory for our sponsors and easier for our team to travel to. With Roger from RGH Construction its definitely easier on him to get to Five Mile being all the way in Dutchess County. We have always run well there, we have 11 wins so far there including being the three time winner of the Southern Tier Open. Plus, the place has a historical value with short track racers like us with names like Butch Tittle, Doug Worthing, Chuck Akulis and many others it will be great to try and put our stamp on the place like those guys have.
After going back to back as champ at Thunder Mountain Speedway is there any hesitation leaving there ?
Creeden: We would have liked to make it 3 in a row there, Thunder Mountain is such a great facility; however, it is better for our sponsors to race weekly within their territories with Shakelton NAPA being south of Binghamton and most of sponsors being within Orange and Sullivan Counties so they can come see us easier.
What do you like about Five Mile Point ?
Creeden: I like the family style atmosphere that all of the race teams have. It’s a place where Sadie can come in the trailer all day and the whole staff is super friendly. We also look forward to the seeing all the fans , they have always been great. The place is really racy, which suits my driving style.
What is your schedule for ’18?
Creeden: Friday Nights we will be at Accord Speedway with the 5L Enterprises TEO ProCar owned by Chad Loidice. His Son Charles will be making rounds in the Rookie Sportsman Division so it gives us the easiest way to help him along.
Saturdays we will be in the Westar Mechanical 16x TEO owned by Bill Reagan at Five Mile Point Speedway.
Short Track Super Series we will be in our family owned Smokers Choice 16x TEO with Roger Humeston supplying the power plants.
Sponsor Notes :
Creeden: Once again going to PRI was a great move for us. We always meet so many good people to work with every year there. This year we were able to secure Rodendsupply.com and Blue Streak Plug Wires partnerships while at the show. Even though its 3 different cars we are all on board to do it together which is nice. I am very thankful for the opportunities ahead. This year new to us is Bill Reagan’s Westar Mechanical out of Middletown, NY. Westar is joining our team of partners such as Smoker’s Choice, Rodend Supply, Blue Streak Plug Wires, as well as Raffi’s Auto Detailing Goshen NY, Smith Logging Accord, NY, Shakelton NAPA Southern Tier NY and NE Pa, 5L Enterprises, RGH Construction, CP-Carrillo Pistons from CA, Mr. LEAKS Radiators, Premier Hydraulics, Affordable Home Improvements Callicoon NY, Fastline Performance, Fox Racing Shocks, PAC Springs, BAM Lifters and the4WIDE.
