KIRKWOOD, NY – Racing at Five Mile Point Speedway looks to get back on track this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Four early season rain outs have wreaked havoc with the 2018 schedule as the calendar heads to the Memorial Day Weekend. This Saturday will be a huge night of racing with free grandstand admission being offered to residents of Conklin, Vestal and Bradford County (PA) for their Community Nights. This Saturday will also see the popular kids bike racing on the track. As always, kids 12 years old and younger will be admitted free in to the races.
Despite the weather trying to steal the early season headlines, Five Mile Point Speedway has had a fantastic start to the 2018 racing season. The new track surface has had rave reviews with multi-grooved racing and no tire wear for the teams in action. The official season opening event back on May 5th saw nearly 130 race teams in competition. They came from all over the northeast to be part of the excitement at the quarter mile clay oval.
This Saturday will see a multiple of Community Night’s on the docket. Residence from Bradford County (PA), Conklin and Vestal (NY) will be admitted in to the grandstand free of charge. Those residence only need to present photo i.d. at the box office upon entering the speedway. The Community Night’s are unique to Five Mile Point Speedway and offer free admission nights to townships throughout the Southern Tier throughout the season.
On the track the Modifieds will headline another busy night of racing action. They will be joined by the Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Xcel 600 Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Lightning Cats. If the May 5th opening night action is any indication 2018 will be an ultra-competitive season of racing.
This Saturday will serve as only the second night of point racing for the teams this season. Teams will be utilizing a draw/re-draw format for starting positions. Handicapped race lineups will begin next Saturday, June 2nd.
For fans it will be a great family fun night of racing at the historic Five Mile Point Speedway. Kids 12 years old and younger are always admitted free of charge. The Family Five Pack is in effect for $30. This includes 2 adult grandstand tickets, 3 senior, youth or child tickets along with 5 hot dogs and 5 sodas.
