Five Mile to Hopes to Reverse the Rain Trend with Wednesday Special

KIRKWOOD, NY – The unpredictable summer weather once again was the only winner at Five Mile Point Speedway on Saturday. Early morning heavy rain forced the postponement of racing action. As the Track Championship race events are becoming few the speedway made the decision to add a special racing program this Wednesday night. Racing begins at 7:15 p.m.

Race fans can save $2 off an adult grandstand admission on Wednesday by simply presenting a rain-check from any race track from 2018. On the card will be the exciting Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Xcel 600 Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Lightning Cat Expert and Novice along with the Junior Excel Modifieds. There will also be practice for the Modified teams as they gear up for double features this Saturday night.

For the teams racing on Wednesday, only three point races remain to determine the 2018 Track Championships. A lot will be riding on these remaining races as teams will race on Wednesday evening and then regroup for the final two Saturday nights of racing on August 18th and August 25th.

Track crews have been working hard on not only the racing surface but the grounds themselves as a number of days of heavy rain fell last week. The speedway surface was in prime shape prior to the heavy rain on Saturday. The early forecast for this Wednesday looks outstanding for a great night of racing action.

As always kids 12 years old and younger will be admitted free on Wednesday evening. Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5:45 p.m. Practice will take place at 6:30 p.m. with racing set for 7:15 p.m.

This Saturday racing will begin at 6 p.m. for New Milford Community Night and Youth Night. This Saturday will see double Modified features along with a complete program of racing.
