BATAVIA, NY – With COVID-19 taking a win in the 2020 addition of The Gladiator, the Genesee Speedway has stepped up to make up for last season’s unfortunate absence of the Big Block Modifieds in the form of an increased purse for the 2021 edition. This increased purse includes a $5,000 share going to the winner, the biggest winner’s prize in track history. This lucrative payout is sure to bring some of the best Modified racers in the Northeast to what has become one of the speedway’s premier events.
For the third time in four years, fans of the Genesee County ⅓ mile oval will be able to experience the mighty Big Block Modifieds on Thursday, July 8th as part of The Gladiator MMXXI. Some of the Northeast’s best teams will battle for 40 laps with $5,000 going to the winner. The mighty ULMS Super Late Models & RUSH Pro Mods will also be in action on this midsummer night.
In the previous two editions of The Gladiator, the popular “Helmet” trophy has been taken back home to Niagara County, both times by Ransomville, NY natives. Ryan Susice would dominate the 2018 program with Erick Rudolph taking top honors in 2019. Though there is no guarantee the trophy will not end up back in Ransomville, it is confirmed that another chapter of Gladiator history will be written on this Thursday night in July. Local businesses Wraptile Graphics and Professional Drainage Systems will return for a third time as title sponsors for the event.
2021’s installment of The Gladiator will present drivers and teams of the event a new challenge in the form of a slightly adjusted rules package. Unlike years past, Hoosier Racing Tire will be the official tire of The Gladiator MMXXI. Hoosier Tire Western New York has stepped up to help with the increased purse and more contingency prizes than ever.
The new tire rule will test the versatility of the Big Block drivers competing as well as that of their Small Block adversaries, who are still looking to take home their first 40 lap Gladiator victory. Dozens of contingency sponsorships will also be available for businesses, fans and teams alike. All monies raised will go directly to the drivers/teams along with the increased payout.
More news and information on the event will be announced as it becomes available. To follow along with the event, follow Genesee Speedway on Facebook or visit their website www.genesee-speedway.com
