FULTONVILLE, NY – The third night of the 2023 racing season at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park was a special one for many reasons. In addition to the great weather and the healthy car counts, the track honored one of the matriarchs of The Ridge – the late Don Warner.
The Silver Fox Showdown for the Yurkewecz Auto Crushers DIRTcar Pro Stock division headlined Sunday night’s program and when all was said and done, a close friend of the Warner family landed in victory lane – Luke Horning.
Horning dominated the 25-lap event to bring home his second consecutive feature event win. The win was his 46th overall at track and 42nd in the division. Horning remains the all-time leading DIRTcar Pro Stock winner at The Ridge. With the numerous bonuses put together by the Warner family, Horning brought home an extra $297 plus a free Hoosier Racing Tire. Every driver in the field earned at least $100 extra on top of the regular purse thanks to the bonuses put together by the Warner family.
By virtue of winning one week ago, Horning was the first to collect the Glove City Transportation DIRTcar Pro Stock Back-to-Back Bonus Award ($100).
Shawn Perez, Jr. finished a very impressive second in the final rundown after battling eventual third place finisher Josh Coonradt for most of the event. Both drivers earned an extra $155 on top of their regular purse money courtesy of Ted’s Body Shop ($100) and E.J. Gallup Racing ($55).
Another driver putting in a strong run was Kyle Weiler. The Delanson, New York driver finish in the fourth position and in the process earned an extra $100 courtesy of Classic Muscle Parts. Slater Baker finished in the fifth position and earned an extra $100 courtesy of 2 B Xtreme Graphics.
Heat races were won by Horning and Perez, who each earned a $97 bonus courtesy of Jason Simmons Racing. The second place finishers in each heat race (Ian Bressett and Johnny Rivers) earned $50 courtesy of Jason Morrison Racing.
