Dave Small and Danny Wurster Win Features at Humberstone Speedway before Mother Nature Strikes

PORT COLBORNE, ON – Port Colborne, Ontario’s Dave Small won the main event for the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks on the Metro Group of Companies Night at the Humberstone Speedway Veteran Danny Wurster from Niagara Falls, Ontario earned his first Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks feature win of the season. The rest of the features were not run before Mother Nature intervened and washing out the rest of the program. Stay tuned to the website regarding when make-up features will be scheduled for the Sportsman, Street Stocks, Late Models and Vintage Cars.

Dave Small and Jay Moulton led the field of Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks to the green flag for their 15 lap feature event with Moulton showing the way. Patrick Abrahamson spun on the back straightaway on lap six to bring out the races first caution. On the restart, Dave Small would take over the lead with Leroy Buscumb in second and Kyle Haynes in third. Leroy Buscumb spun in turn four on lap 10 to bring out the caution and losing his rear axle in the process. After two delays, the checkered flag flew over the field and it was Dave Small taking home the victory.

Mitch Dumont and Danny Wurster were on the front row for the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks with Wurster showing the way. The Pro 4 Trucks raced hard throughout their 15 lap feature go as Dylan Llord tried to get around teammate Mitch Dumont for second on lap five but Dumont was able to hold off the defending divisional champion. Craig Vlasic passed Taylor Vanderzanden to move into fourth place on lap eight, but Vanderzanden was able to regain that position just one lap later. Wurster would lead them all from start to finish to score his first win of the season.

NEWS AND NOTES: 84 cars signed in pitside for the racing action at the historic Humberstone oval. All the fans in attendance had the opportunity to head to the track to get their favorite drivers’ autographs during the popular Autograph Session. The flags were at half mast in memory of Bev Kish, who recently passed away. Bev was the mother of longtime racer Darren Kish and aunt to Adam Ferri. Time trials were conducted for the RUSH Late Models for the All Canadian Championships, that saw Sam Pennacchio set fast time. Time trials set the heat lineups. If you cannot attend a time trial night and wish to race in the All Canadian, you will be added to the rear of the field in qualifying races on the All Canadian Championship night, scheduled for Sunday, August 6th.




The racing action continues at Humberstone on Sunday, July 23rd as Verge Insurance presents Fan Appreciation Night featuring $1.00 hot dogs plus another round of the Performance ATV UTV side-by-side race and Time Trials for the All Canadian Championships for the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman. Pit gates will open at 4:30 pm. Grandstands at 5:00 pm with race time scheduled for 6:30 pm.
