BRIGHTON, ONT – Hot off the press the 2020 Schedule of Events will be released this weekend at the 6th Annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo at the Toronto International Center. Showcasing 2019 Champions Charlie Sandercock in the #57 Vanderlaan Building Products Late Model, Andrew Hennessy in the #87 Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modified and Tommy Bailey in his #44 Bill’s Johns Comp. For those not travelling West this weekend, Brighton Speedway will host a display of cars at Kindness Court and throughout the Quinte Mall from Monday, March 16th to Sunday, March 22nd. Sandercock and Hennessy will join the late model of #77 Caley Weese, #53 Wade Purchase in his Brighton Automotive Thunder Stock Champion ride and Southern Ontario Sprint car #25 of Warren Mahoney.
Motorama and the Quinte Mall Shows kick off the spring season in preparation for the Coca Cola Season Opener presented by Belleville Nissan on Saturday, May 2nd, and has drivers and fans anxious to kick off the season. Opening night is a great opportunity to catch your racing fix for only $4.00 and a non-perishable food donation to the Brighton Fare Share Food Bank. Your entry will be assured and you will witness the 53rd season of dirt slinging action get under way!
The 2020 schedule will highlight 22 weeks of entertainment and 24 scheduled race events, Featuring the Vanderlaan Building Products Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks, Bill’s Johns Comp 4 & Mini Stocks and the Quinte Septic Stingers plus a number of special events will hit the 1/3rd mile clay oval.
Southern Ontario Sprint Cars will make the Brighton Speedway a regular stop on their tour again in 2020 with six visits to the track. The travelling series brings sprint car fans from all over to watch the high horse powered winged warriors rip around the track. Since 2003 the Labour Day Classic has been a highlight of both the SOS and Brighton Speedway’s schedules with two nights of racing, camping and live entertainment that keeps fans coming back for more.
The ever-popular Gerow Propane Summer Smash Monster Truck show presented by Fidelity Engineering will return to Brighton Speedway this season featuring the 2015 Monster Jam World Free Style Champion Mike Vaters the II and Over Kill Evolution along with Black Stallion. The Summer Smash show appears a bit later in the season on this year’s schedule than in the past on Saturday, August 29th. Online ticketing will be available in 2020 allowing fans to purchase tickets for events like Summer Smash well in advance to secure great seating. Tickets will be on sale for this event early so don’t miss out!
A host of other great series and events highlights the 2020 schedule including but not limited to, the OSCAAR Hot Rods on August 8th, the Action Sprint Car Tour has an added date and will make two trips to Brighton Speedway in 2020 on June 5th and August 15th, the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car club will visit mid-season on July 11th and again as a featured event at the end of September.
The Bryan’s Auction Applefest Shootout will close out the race season on September 25th and 26th for the 16th Annual Imagefactor DIRTcar 358Modified Shootout, the weekend hosts two DIRTcar Sportsman Series events along with the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Northeast Late Model Association Campbellford Chrysler Great Crate Race, the Everything Small Engines Canadian Modified UMP Challenge Series, the Insta Panels Thunder Stock Duel on the Dirt, Comp 4, Mini Stocks, Vintage Cars and more. The second double header of the season falls in conjunction with the Municipality of Brighton’s Applefest events in the downtown core with a street fair, car show and children’s village to entertain during the day. The evening race entertainment will provide amazing action on track with camping and live music to top of the weekend.
The season will then close out Saturday, October 3rd with the fan favourite; Lange and Fetter Ford Eve of Destruction and Workman OK Tire School Bus Races! This day of fun and excitement entertains fans of all ages with a wide range of car smashing, trailer wrecking and a long jump event. The day’s events include the 100 Lap Monster Enduro Race, a Youth Enduro, Ladies Enduro, Trailer Race, Flag Pole Race, Long Jump Competition, The Gauntlet and for the finale the Brighton Recycling Demo Derby! The event was literally a sell out last year so be sure to get there early to get a seat!
