ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – Duane Howard Triumphant in Modifieds Return to the Pigeon Hills
It had been over 10 years since the modifieds last visited Lincoln Speedway and on Saturday afternoon Duane Howard was triumphant in their return after a hard fought battle.
Mike Gular led the field into turn 1 with Billy Pauch Jr. on the inside and Louden Reimert in third. Pauch got by Reimert for second and a three car battle for third was underway between Reimert, Rick Laubach and Duane Howard.
Gular was pulling away from the field and Pauch was all by himself in second when the yellow came out on lap 8 when Mike Lisowski fell off the pace in turn 4.
Gular and Pauch lined up side by side for the double file restart. Gular, Pauch and Reimert were nearly three wide down the back stretch with Pauch taking the lead on lap 9. Reimert got under Gular for second coming out of turn 2.
Howard passed Gular for third but Gular got him back at the line to hold onto the spot on lap 11.
Gular got by Reimert to take second back on lap 12 using the high line. Gular was running alongside Pauch and took the lead back on lap 14. Howard caught Pauch and took second on lap 16. Howard then went to work reeling in Gular. Howard was all over Gular for the lead and made the pass coming out of turn 4 to take the top spot on lap 21.
Pauch and Reimert battled side by side for fourth with Reimert taking the spot. Howard was pulling away from the field as Laubach was working on Gular for second.
Howard got to the checkered flag 3.384 seconds ahead of Gular. Laubach crossed the line third and Reimert was fourth. Pauch held on to finish fifth.
Next Saturday, March 11, Lincoln Speedway is dark. We are back in action with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Saturday, March 18. Racing starts at 6PM with pit gates opening at 2PM and grandstand gates opening at 4PM.
