MERCER, PA – The most anticipated weekend weekend on the schedule at Michaels Mercer Raceway is upon us. The exciting Winged Sprint Cars will make their return for a doubleheader! Friday’s action will feature the Racesaver 305 Sprint Cars presented by Hard Welding and Fabrication and River Valley Butcher Block. Then, on Saturday, the 410 Sprint Cars will be to main attraction. This weekend, July 12 and 13, is made possible by Buddy Barris Trucking, and it will serve as the memorial event for the popular driver, the late Buddy Barris.
Providing support each night will be Barris Trucking Modified Lites, together with Dwarf Cars, the Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking Mini Stocks, and the 270 Micros.
Former track champion, Jack Sodeman, Jr., from nearby North Jackson, OH, will be one of the 410 Sprint drivers expected on Saturday, along with other regional talents like Brandon Spithaler, Michael Bauer, Carl Bowser, Brandon and Brent Matus, and many more!
On Friday, Jacob Gomola will put his points lead on the line in the Racesaver 305 Sprints. He has a slim three point advantage over Kyle Colwell. But Will Fleming and Greg Dobrosky are within shooting distance of the leaders. So is exciting teenager Chase Matheny! Who will take home the bacon?
Another close points battle is shaping up in the Barris Trucking Modified Lites. Shane Webb has an identical three point lead over impressive Vivian Jones. Dusty Frantz and Teddy Williams will be among the top challengers. With two nights of action for these racers, there could be some shake-ups in the standings.
Slowly but surely, Joe Campbell is padding his point lead in the Mini Stocks presented by Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking. Steve Longwell, Sr. is also having an outstanding season, and Mike Porterfield just got his first win! Over a score of Mini Stock drivers are expected and you will certainly want to stick around to see them in competition.
Mike Borawiec, Jeff Haefke, Todd Reusser, and a dozen or more other 270 Micro drivers will bring their scaled-down Sprint Cars to the tricky Mercer oval. Those racers always enjoy the challenge of the unique configuration, and they provide lots of excitement for the fans.
On both nights, the Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. and spectator gates will open an hour later. Practice sessions will start at 6:30 and racing will commence at 7 p.m. Come out early to get your favorite seats, as large crowds are expected to welcome back the Sprint Cars!
Friday’s ticket pricing will be as follows. Adult admission will be $12, and seniors (60+) will come in for $10. Children under 13 years of age will be admitted for free, so long as they are accompanied by a paying patron. Pit passes will be $30, except for seniors (60+) and children (10 and under), who will be admitted for $25.

Fans will be pleased to know that there will be plenty of free camping available for the weekend. There will be no hook-ups available, however.
Next weekend, July 20, will be the momentous return of the Diehl Ram Big Block Modifieds, as they will take on the stars of the BRP Modified Tour. That will be one of the highest-paying races in the region this season, so Modified fans will want to come out to see the best of the best in action after several weeks of inactivity.
