Rich Mod Anniversary Race Coming to OC; 3 Races in 8 Days

MIDDLETOWN, NY-With three full racing programs in the span of just eight days, the early part of August will be filled with hot summer racing action at the five-eighths-mile, clay-surfaced Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York.

Saturday, August 6: A four division racing program of United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, H.O. Penn Small-Block Modifieds, Arkel Motors Sportsman, and NAPA Northeast Parts Group Street Stocks. At the conclusion of the 30-lap Big-Block Modified feature race, the eligible drivers for the 2022 track championship will be pared from 12 to eight. 

The starting lineups for all divisions will be set by qualifying heat and last chance races—25 laps for the Small-Block Modifieds, 20-laps for the Sportsman, and 20-laps for the Street Stocks. The Marky Traverse Memorial Race carries both an enhanced purse and many additional cash and merchandise awards. A special Mark Rutherford Memorial Dash race for top Street Stock heat race finishers carries a total $1,100 purse. The evening is also Full Fender Nostalgia Night, with many former Street Stock competitors on hand to remember great races in the past and meet with present day fans. Orange County Chamber of Commerce and County Waste are the evening’s sponsors.       

Thursday, August 11: The 103rd Anniversary Race. In celebration of Orange County’s 103 years of racing at the historic Middletown track, the United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds will race 103 laps for a top prize of $17,500. Qualifying races will set the field for this special event. Completing the program will be the first 2022 appearance of the Pro Stocks. VP Racing Fuels is the 103rd Anniversary Race sponsor.

Saturday, August 13: First Responders Night. On Heroes Night, Orange County Fair Speedway honors First Responders—Fire, Police, EMTs, and Military. There will be First Responders displays on the Midway and a parade during intermission as well as a First Responder exclusive Happy Hour prior to the start of racing. Special ticket packages are available to First Responder groups.




The four-division racing program includes the United Rentals DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, H.O. Penn Small-Block Modifieds, Arkel Motors Sportsman, and Precision Hydraulic & Oil Rookie Sportsman in qualifying and feature races.

First Responders Night is sponsored by Orange & Rockland Utilities, Goosetown Communications, Firematic Supply Company, Inc., and UDIG-NY.
