Orange County Season Winding Down; Three August Events Set

MIDDLETOWN, NY-Following a midsummer break for the annual Fair, racing returns to Orange County Fair Speedway with three exciting August nights of high speed action. First on Saturday, August 5, it’s the annual Full Fender Nostalgia Night with the track’s Street Stock Division headlining the program.  The highlight will be the 20-lap Marky Traverse Memorial Street Stock Feature Race honoring the memory of the young fan who left us far too soon. In addition to the regular Street Stock purse, this race always includes a special trophy and bonus awards thanks to the generosity of fans and fellow competitors. The top Street Stock drivers will also compete in the Mark Rutherford Memorial Dash for Cash, a four-lap romp that has $500 awaiting the winner.

The Sportsman and Rookie Sportsman divisions are also on the program with a full card of qualifying races and their respective feature events. In addition, the remaining 16 laps of the postponed July 5 Sportsman feature will be run.

Prior to the racing, between 4:00 and 5:30 pm, current and past Street Stock drivers will participate in an autograph session.

General admission for the August 5 race meet is just $5.00. Party Deck $15 each, $60 table maximum four, VIP Tower seating $30 each. The Drive-In section will not be open. Pit admission $30 member, $35 non-member. Both the stands and pits will open at 3:30 pm. Racing begins at 6:30 pm.

The Saturday, August 12 race meet headlines the H.O. Penn Small-Block Modifieds with qualifying races setting the field for their 25-lap feature race. This is Orange County’s tightest point race, currently with a tie for first between Anthony Perrego and Dillon Steuer, both with 281 points.  Third through fifth in the point chase are Billy VanInwegen (271 points), Danny Creeden (266), and Tanner VanDoren (255). The Sportsman and Street Stocks will see action with a full program of qualifying and feature races.

The month’s biggest event will take place on Saturday, August 19 when Orange County Fair Speedway celebrates its 104th Anniversary, with a special 50-lap, $6,000 to win feature race for the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds.  More details on this celebratory night of racing are forthcoming. The Sportsman and Rookie Sportsman will also be in competition that evening.
