Kyle Cummins takes home ‘Bill Gardner Sprintacular’ Win at Lincoln Park Speedway

Kyle Cummins gets the left side wheels off the ground as he throttles through turn three on his way to a Midwest Sprint Car Series win on Friday night at Lincoln Park Speedway.

PUTNAMVILLE, IN — Lincoln Park Speedway played host to the annual “Bill Gardner Sprintacular” over the weekend for what was scheduled to be a two-day event. While Friday’s festivities provided plenty of on-track thrills, Mother Nature captured Saturday’s second event.

Kyle Cummins wrapped up the Midwest Sprint Car Series mid-season points title in style on night one by coming home with the victory ahead of Shane Cottle and Jordan Kinser. Cummins bested a field of 36 other sprint car drivers to pick up a dominating victory.
Max Adams was the fast overall qualifier on the evening. Travis Berryhill, Shane Cottle, Cummins, Kinser and Dakota Jackson were heat race winners on the night.

Cummins cinched up the points title following a fourth-place finish at Paragon Speedway on Thursday evening and the victory at LPS the following evening. A.J. Hopkins took the checkered flag ahead of Kinser and Dave Darland at Paragon.

In the UMP Modified feature, Jamie Lomax took over the lead near the midway point of the 20-lap main event and checked out on the field down the stretch. The Lake Village, Ind. native claimed the victory after getting past Randy Shuman and James Walters. Those two would take a top-three podium finish behind Lomax as Jeff Deckard powered home to a fourth-place finish ahead of Kenny Carmichael Sr. Lomax, Walters and Nathan Voorhies picked up heat race victories as Michael Fish won the B-main.

There were 24 UMP Super Stocks on hand at LPS for Friday’s action and at the end it was a familiar face in victory lane.

Josh Boller won his heat race to solidify a strong starting spot for the A-main as Thursday’s Paragon Speedway winner, Bryce Shidler, also won his heat. Daniel Norman was the third heat race victor.

Brazil’s Larry Raines would start on the pole for the 20-lap feature with Shidler starting alongside him. However, it would eventually be Boller, who got to the front in the latter stages of the race as he battled his way past Wes McClara down the stretch. Boller’s victory was his ninth overall this season. McClara outbattled Shidler and Tyler Neal to take second with Jonny Newgent taking home the fifth-place position.

The bomber division was decided be a mere couple of feet after a late caution re-set the field.

Jordan Almanza, who started 10th, pulled alongside Josh Litton and the two raced wheel-to-wheel for the final handful of circuits. The thrilling battle came down to the final corner as Almanza throttled to the victory by a couple of feet at the finish line ahead of Litton. Andrew Pollock captured his best finish with a third-place decision with Jeff Allen rolling to fourth-place ahead of Megan Cavaness.

Pollock, Almanza and Barry Hicks picked up heat race wins.
