MIDDLETOWN, NY – With Opening Night jitters out of the way, the more than 100 Orange County Fair Speedway race car drivers are primed for the second night of exciting stock car racing Saturday night, May 6 at the historic Middletown, New York track. In addition to the Big-Block Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks, the Small Block Modifieds will make their first appearance of the season on the Middletown five-eighths-mile Hard Clay speedway. The Small-Block Modifieds, will see action nine Saturday nights this season as well as in their traditional Eastern States Championship race.
With Modified drivers will be eligible to compete in both divisions, fans have a chance to see many of the track’s top stars racing in two feature events. This includes Tommy Meier, of Waldwick, New Jersey, the defending point champion of both Modified divisions.
All divisions will compete in short qualifying races that lead to feature races of longer duration—Big-Block Modifieds 30 laps, Small-Block Modifieds 25 laps, Sportsman 20 laps, and Street Stocks 15 laps.
The sponsors of the night of action are Arkel Motors and Howard Johnson/Super 8 of Middletown. Racing gets under way at 6:30 PM.
Admission prices for the May 6 race meet remain at $15 adults, $13 seniors, and $1.00 for children 12 and under.
