Military Appreciation Night at OCFS Moved to July 14

MIDDLETOWN, NY – The threat of severe weather this past Saturday evening, June 29, led speedway management to postpone the evening’s racing on Military Appreciation Night until Sunday, July 14. This sets up a doubleheader weekend of on-track action, with Saturday, July 13 featuring Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series making their second Orange County Fair Speedway appearance. Also on tap that evening will be the Small-Block Modifieds with a pair of feature races. Then on Sunday, August 14, the postponed Military Appreciation Night races and activities take center stage at the historic five-eighths-mile Hard Clay oval.

Active military personnel and retired veterans with proper identification will be admitted free to the Orange County Fair Speedway (Middletown, New York) grandstands and drive-in Sunday, July 14. “We owe so much to our military people. Their sacrifices have kept us free, allowing us to enjoy a way of life that is the envy of all the other nations,” says Mike Gurda, speedway manager. “We’re happy to recognize our active and veteran military folks at the speedway as a in conjunction with the country’s celebration of Independence Day.”

In addition, the rescheduled program will feature special on-track tributes to the men and women who served overseas as well as custom tribute paint schemes on some of the cars. Proceeds from the race meet’s 50/50 drawing will be donated to a charity benefitting veterans. Before and after the races, fans can enjoy free music at the 31st Lap Tavern.

Admission prices for the big July 14 race meet remain at $20 adults, with children 10 and under $5.00. There is a $1.00 car charge in the Drive-In section. Race fans will receive a free program as they pass through the turnstiles.
